HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - November 20, 19572213 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF LODI COUNCIL C ._:3=R, CITY HALL :T07EM3ER 20, 1957 This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi held beginning at 8:00 o'clock p.m. of Wednesday, November 20, 1957; Councilmen Katzakian, Mitchell, Robinson and Hughes (Mayor) present; Councilman_ Fuller absent. City Manager Claves present. City Attorney Mullen present. On motion of Councilman Katzakian, Robinson second, the minutes of November 6, 1957, were approved as written and mailed. PLANNING COMMISSION FI"A L N .P ELNd0OD :CRSS IINE STRICT SETBACK REZONING :.CHEROKEE L:_:T CPC ACTION The final map of Elmwood Acres was submitted for approval. On the motion of Councilman Mit= cheil, Robinson second, the Council approved the map and authorized the Mayor to sign. Councilman Katzakian abstained from voting on the motion because of personal interest in the subdivision. The acceptance of the streets offered for dedication_ is subject to improve- ment of the streets to City standards before they will be maintained by the City. The Planning Commission recommended the establish- ment of setback lines on Vine Street between Cherokee Lane and the Southern Pacific Railroad at 30 feet from the center line of the street. On motion of Councilman Robinson, Katzakian second, the Council set the Public hearing on the matter for December 4, 1957. The Planning Commission recommended that the property fronting on the west side of Cherokee Lane between Pioneer Drive and the Grape Festival grounds be rezoned from C-1 neighborhood com- mercial to C-2 general commercial. On motion of Councilman Katzakian, Mitchell second, the rezoning was set for public hearing on December 4, 1957. The City Council was then informed of the follow- ing actions having been taken by the Planning Commission at its meeting of _November 18: 1. Approved the request of Mrs. Ella Suess for a use permit to erect a right angle sign at 407 'nest Lodi Avenue in the C-1 zone. 2. 00MYJ _TI0ATI0:;s ABC L=CENSE Approved the request of George Ferrero for a use permit to erect a right angle sign at 504 'Vest Lodi Avenue in the C-1 zone. On motion of Councilman. Yitchell, Katzakian second, the deed to the Rawe property at the end of Graffigna Avenue was accepted subject to completion of street improvements according to City specifi- L%L STREET .._tions before final acceptance. CITY CA3 CO. _--_ City Manager submitted a written request RATE ifCIEASE from the City Cab Company for an increase in taxi rates. Mr. .ferry Kirsten, representing the Cab Company, explained the justification or a rate increase. On motion of Councilman =.atzakiar., Mitchell second, the Council set a public nearing on the matter for December 4, 1957. GALT HIGH A contract with Galt High School for use of STAD_'.i ', USE -,e Lodi Stadium for the next fire years was CO'ITERACCT submitted for approval. On motion of Council- man X-itchell, Robinson second, tae contract was approved and its execution by the Eayor autaorized.
