City Manager Weller and City Attorney Mullen present. Minutes of April 3, 1957, were approved as written and mailed. Minutes of April 17, 1957, were approved with the cor- rection on page five, paragraph entitled, "Option Signed by City of Lodi for 12.75 Acres." The words Planning Commission are corrected to read Recreation Commission. CONED JICATIONS CENTRAL VALLEY A letter from the Mayor of Modesto inviting the REGIONAL PLANNING City Council to attend the second Central CONFERENCE Valley Regional Planning Conference to be held in Modesto May 9 and 10. Application for Alcoholic Beverage License for Off -Sale Beer and Wine to Purity Stores, 121 S. School Street. REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER PURCHASE OF SMITH PROPERTY OLIVE COURT EXTENSION Claims in the amount of $26,704.14 were approved . on the motion of Councilman Fuller, Katzakian second. A letter from the Superintendent of Recreation, reporting that the Recreation Commission had considered the purchase of the 12 -acre parcel adjoining Lodi Lake Park on the west from Mrs. Stella Smith. The Commission recommended that the City secure an option, and found that the purchase of the property would be of value to the City in its future park development. On the motion of Councilman Katzakian, Mitchell second, the City Council voted to exercise the option and to authorize the City Manager and City Attorney to proceed with the purchase of the land. The City Manager reported that he received an offer for the dedication of Olive Court for the extension of that street beyond the Presz- ler Tract. Olive Court is presently dedicated and improved in the Preszler Tract. The prop- erty owners living west of this property wish to extend the street to the dead-end and are therefore offering it for public use. He reported that the majority of the property owners have agreed to pay for the street improve- ment. The City Engineer recommended that the inutes of i:a:r 1, 195?contirled 155 street be accented with the understanding that the street will be improved to the standards recuired for a new subdivision. Councilman ilitctell then moved, Fuller second, that the City accept the deeds with t', -.e understanding that the dedication is to be at no cost to the City and that paving, curb, and Putter will also be installed at no cost to the City. The motion was passed by unani- mous vote. ST. The request was for a loading zone extending from the Tokav Street corner south to the edc-e of a concrete platform in front of the church for a total length of approximately 81 feet. i•ir. 'Meller stated that the RES. NO. 2021 recuest had been submitted to the City Engineer, ADOPTED who recommended that the recuest be granted for a 40 -foot loading zone, extending from the south edge of the concrete platform north. This would permit the retention of two parking stalls be- tween the loading zone and the Tokay Street corner. Councilman Fuller stated 'r_e felt a 40 -foot load- ing zone would be insufficient for their purpose and indicated he would favor granting the original recuest for an 81 -foot loading, zone. It was nointed out that St. Paul's Church does not cro- vide off-street parking at present. Councilman Mitchell moved, katzakian second, the adoption of kesolution No. 2021, awarding a 40 -foot loading zone as reconwaended•bv the City Engineer. ELii•.I<.ATIGIN The City iManager reported that the City Engineer OF RED Z0•ic, ON had received a recuest from Suelzle Electric Com - L. LODI 0E. parry for the elimination of a 19 -foot red zone in front of the company's establishment on East Lodi R -_S. NO. 2022 .+venue. The City Engineer explained that the red ADOPTED zone has been in existence for many years, but he can find no reeuirement for it at this time. The elimination of this red zone will provide one additional parking stall on Lodi Avenue. Resolu- tion No. 2022, eliminating the red zone on East Lodi avenue, was adopted on the motion of Council- man Katzakian, Fuller second. tiNNEXATION The City Manager presented a petition from the ERL.ii B. RE7SE 'Hoods School District recuesting the annexation SCHOCL SITE of a 10 -acre parcel recently purchased by the School Board. He explained that the north side of Lodi "venue between Sacramento Street and the Southern Pacific right-of-wa•r had been included in a project statement, but this can later be withdrawn if the City fails to secure the necessary deed for tae right-of-way.
