HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - September 17, 195833� CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF LODI COUNCIL CHAMBER, CITY HALL SEPTEMBER 17, 1958 This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi held beginning at 8:00 o'clock p.m. of Wednesday, September 17, 1958; Councilmen Brown, Culbertson, Mitchell, Robinson and Katzakian (Mayor) present; none absent. Also present: City Manager Glaves, City Attorney Mullen, Planning Director Rodgers and Administrative Assistant Brown. MINUTES Minutes of August 13, August 20 and September 3, 1958, were approved as written and mailed on motion of Council- man Culbertson, Brown second, after correction in min- utes of September 3, 19589 of typographical.error in paragraph headed "Parks Gardener Classification" by changing the figure"$476" to "4376" in the last sen- tence. VISITORS The Mayor welcomed three representatives of the Junior Chamber of Commerce: Joe Comporato, Bill Hover and Jack Klingman. THANKS TO The Council requested on motion of Councilman Culbert - JR. CHA�:BER son, Brown second, that a letter of thanks be sent OF COMMERCE to the Junior Chamber of Commerce for the equipment for the Little League baseball diamonds at Blakely and Van Buskirk Parks.' PLANNING COMMISSION CAPELL HANOR The final map of Capell Manor was submitted for approval. On motion of Councilman Mitchell, Culbertson second, the ;nap of Capell Manor was held over until the meeting of October 1, 1958, at which time the minutes of a previous meeting concerning street requirements for this subdivision are to be available, C OMMfiTN ICAT I ONS STATE ROUTE Resolutions from the City of Fairfield and the San 12 Joaquin County Board of Supervisors endorsing Lodi's resoltition urging reconstruction of State Route 12 between the Mokelumne River and Highway 99. REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER EASE"JMNT The City Manager submitted a proposed agreement with FROM SP CO, the Southern Pacific Company for an easement needed for construction of a sanitary sewer line at the RES. NO. 2169 Company's Kettleman Lane crossing, On motion of ADOPTED Councilman Culbertson, Brown second, the Council adopted Resolution No. 2169 approving the agreement and author- izing the Mayor to sign, the City Attorney having assured the Council that it would be all right to accept said document, .3 32 Minutes of September 17, 1958 continued MILLS AVENUE Mr. Glaves reported gnat General 'Mills was ready PAVING to pave its portion of Mills Avenue and that the Loma Park subdividers had dep o.sited with the City RES. NO. 2172 their portion of the costs for the Mills Avenue ALOPTED improvement. He recomT:ended that the City proceed with the paving of this street as far south as Locke - ford Street, stating that the cost to the City would be approximately §2100. On motion of Councilman RAW ON Mitchell, Brown second, the Council approved the S. SACRAMENTO -City Manager's recommendation, CLAIMS Claims amounting to $106,711.92 were approved on motion of Councilman Brown, Mitchell second, TURNFR ROAD The City N`anager read a letter from L. H. Bradley, County Road Co-mmissioner, stating that the County would not be able to participate in the reconstruction of Turner Road before the 1960-61 fiscal year. STOP S=GN On motion of Councilman Mitchell, Brown second, the RES. NO. 2170 Council adopted Resolution No. 2170 approving the ;DOPTED installation of a stop sign on Loma Drive at the north side of Lockeford Street, A`1V RD The City Manager reported that two bids had been CONCRETE PIPE received on the 24" and 30" concrete pipe, one RES. NO. 2171 from Mumbert Concrete ?ipe_Company for X2,110 and ADOPTED the other from the Spiekerman Concrete Pipe Com- pany for 02,096. Resolution No. 2171 awarding the contract for the concrete pipe to the Spiekerman Concrete Pipe Company was adopted on motion of Councilman Culbertson, Brown second. CROSS.JALKS The City Manager stated tha,l a request had been received from the Principal of the Leroy Nichols RES. NO. 2172 School requesting that crosswalks be established ALOPTED on Rinlby Avenue and Alicante Drive on the east side of Crescent Avenue. On motion of Councilman Mitchell, Brown second, the Council adopted Resolution No. 2172 establishing the two crosswalks as requested. RAW ON Mr. Glaves aresented a memorandum from the Director S. SACRAMENTO of Public Works requesting approval of negotiations STREET for right of way on the east side of South Sacramento Street from Park Street south for street widening purposes. In exchange for the right of way the Director of Public Works recommends that the City reimburse the property owners for the cost of curb and gutter notto exceed ;x"1.90 per lineal foot. On the motion of Councilman Mitchell, Robinson second, the Council authorized the acceptance of deeds for right of way on the east side of South Sacramento Street for 273 feet south from Park Street in exchange for cost of curb and gutter not to exceed :1.90 per lineal foot, to be paid to the property owners after its installation which is to be within six months, ORDINANCES GARDENER ORDINANCE NO. 626, entitled "AN ORDI:,ANCE AUENDING SALARY ORDINANCE No. 609 BE ADDING T'ERETO THE S�LARY OF PARKS GARDENER", having been introduced at the regular meeting of September 3, 1958, was brought up for oassage on the motion of Councilman Culbertson, Brown second. Second reading was omitted after Minutes of Sepze--ber 17, 1958 continued 333 reading by title, and was then passed, adopted and ordered to print by the following vote: Aiz'S: Council -an - Brown, Culbertson, Mitchell, Robinson and Katzakian NOES: Council. -^en - None ABSENT: Councilmen - None i The meeting adjourned at 9 p.m. AT=ES BEAT TR.
