MAY 21, 1958
This regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Lodi beginning at
8:00 o'clock P.m. of Wednesday, May 21,
1959; Councilmen Brown, Culbertson, Mitchell, Robinson and
Katzakian (Mayor) present; none absent. City Manager Glaves
and City Attorney Mullen present.
On motion of Councilman Robinson, Brown second, the
minutes of May 7, 1959, were approved after correcting as
follows: In the first sentence of the paragraph entit'.ed
"City Manager Salary Increase", strike out the :lords "an increase"
and insert "his salary would be reviewed". In the sec_r_d sen-
tence of the same paragraph, delete the word "to".

Mayor Katzakian called for public hearing on
the vacation of Maple Street west of Stockton
Street. There were no protests,vither .Written
or oral. On motion of CouncilmanCulbertson,
Mitchell second, the Council. introduced Or-
dinance No. 615, vacating thenortion of Maple
Street west of Stockton Street, by readin7
of title only and waiving reading of the
ordinance in full.

ORDINANCE
The Planning Commission submitted for study
and adoption a subdivision ordinance which
they have drafted after six months of study
and on which they have had a public hearing.
It was brought out that the p• blic has been
made aware of the proposed ordinance through
the newspapers and at sessions of the Real
Estate Soard where it was discussed and to
which anyone interested had been invited.
On motion. of Councilman Brown, Robinson second,
the Council set the meeting of July 16,
1959, for discussion and possible introduction
of the proposed ordinance.

Councilman Robinson moved, Mitchel_ second,
that the City Council -o on record as endorsing
the stand of the Lodi Council of Churches and
that the Lepart'-Went of Alcoholic Beverage
Control in Sacramento be so notified. The
motion passed by the following vote:

was recom-nended by the Chief of Police, amend-
ing the "Bicycle Ordinance". The a^end-ent

public nuisance on sidewalks. On motion of
Councilman Culbertson, Brown second, the
Council introduced Ordinance No. 617, pro-
viding for the registration and licensing
of bicycles, by reading of title only and
waiving reading of the ordinance in full.

of Council -tan Culbertson, Brown second, the
Council passed Resolution No. 2127, adopting
the prevailing wage rates.
LDi SPORTS- "?r, Gla,;es reported that the lease with the
_A'.PS CL":B Lodi Sportsman's Club was up for renewal,
LEA. -,'E This concerns property adjacent to the City's
old dump site on the ?Mokelunne River and is
used by the City principally for burning leaves
and -rush. On motion of Councilman Mitchell,
Brown second, the Council renewed the lease
for one year for the surf of X300.

the City Council ordered the demolition of

ceed with such action.

second, the Council adopted Resolution No, 2123,

The City Mianager then mentioned that the ')!rector

of Public Works had informed him that it will be
necessary to remove existing sidewalk, curb and
gutter along Church Street at the Parkin District
lot on the corner oi' Church and 'Walnut Streets
in order to establish the proper =rade, The
Director felt it would be advisable at this time
to determine whether or not Church Street is to
eventually carry four lane traffic and if so, the
desirability of widening the street at the cark-
ing lot at this tine in order to avoid re^oval
of the curb and -utter again at sone later
date, The `piaster Plan has deli nested this
street at its present w`_dtr of 50 feet, Mayor
Katzakian moved, Brown second, that the question
be referred to the City Planning Co:,rission

The Recreation Co -mission reco:r^.ended that

Lawrence R. Bayles be given the ri-ht to conduct a
pony ride concession on the north side of Lodi
Lake Park on a 30 -day trial basis, The City
would receive 10% of the gross revenue, Councilman
Brown :roved, Robinson second, that the request
be granted after clearance with the City Attorney
regarding lia'r_ility. The motion_ passed by the
followin�z vote:

LEVEE CONTRACT The City Mianager reported that J,.v. Richar' s,

requested an exte::sion of time to co"olete
the work and he recommended that the extension
be zranted to June 19, 19--8, On notion of
Councilman Mitchell, Brown second, the Council
,granted the extension as recommended,
