NO. 2090 -mayor Hughes called for public hearing on the establishment of building setback. __..es or. .a- L_..., between Turner Road and .ett_eman Lane. ::_. Emil Bender, representing ,-_e Zion Reformed ,-lure`.., opposed the proposed setback lines, stat- in; that the Church representatives had contacted the City regarding plans on Hay Lane before building the Church and that they had complied with City requirements, and didn't want the curb to be set back five feet. ':r. Knorad ::unsoh, 116 5. Ham Lane, objected to the proposed setback line because it would cut down the area of his front yard and other yards along the street. Er. Albert Dehr, 32 S. sari Lane, opposed the pro- posed setback lines on the grounds that it would lessen the value of the property along Ham Lane and that it wasn't necessary to use it as a through street. Planning Director George Rodgers stated that it was necessary to designate this street as a major street as it was the only through street from -u_n__ Road to ..ettlenan Lane between Church Street and the Lower Sacramento Road. He stated that the setback requirements should be mate now in order to save additional_ expense when widening became necessary; at some future ,.__.e, as it would prevent buildings from being placed too close to the property line. Stating that _a.._ Lane was part of the major street plan and that it was expedient to provide =o- future widening, Councilman Katzakian, ?fuller second, introduced Ordinance No. 610, providing for a setback line 40 feet each side of the center line of Ham Lane. Yr. Binh Dow, 45 Ham Lane, ob cted to the setback line, saying it would adversely effect the value of his property. :he Council followed the recommendation of the Planning Commission and introduced Ordinance 00. 610, by unanimous roll call vote.
