LODI COEN;IL CHAMBER CITY HALL APRIL 1. 1959 This regular meeting of the City Council_ of the City of Lodi held beginning at 9:00 o'clock o.m. of Wednesday, April 1, 1959; Councilmen Brown, Culbertson, Mitchell, Robinson and Katzakian (rayor) present; none absent. City Manager Glaves, Planning Director Rodgers and Administrative Assistant Brown oresent. City Attorney Mullen arrived at 8:10 p.m. MT UT?S Cn motion of Councilman Brown, P'itchell second, the .'inutes of March 18, 1959 were approved as written and mailed. PUBLIC HEARINGS __EAT.Y .DDITIO_; Yavor Katzakian called for rublic hearing on the intention to annex the Healy Addition ORD. JO. 640 with .-2 Commercial zoning. There being no INTRODUCED protests, either written or oral, and the Planning Commission having recommended such zoning, Ordinance No. 5d0, annexing the Healy addition with C-2 zoning, was intro- duce on motion of Councilman Brown, Cul- bertson second, after reading by title and waiving the reading of the ordinance in full. EXTE:ic r•n:.i The City ..anar!er reported that Mr. & Mrs. A.W. Fear were willing to deed a stria of land 18 feet wide for the future extension of :•Test - wood __venue to Lake Street in exchange for the City's installation of 102 feet of curb and gutter along the Lake Street frontage on their property. They do not wish to dedicate the entire street at the present time, but have areed that no future buildings will be Placed within the future right of way of Westwood :.venue. The Planning Commission recommended that the deed to the 18 -foot strip be accepted in exchange for the requested curb and gutter. Mr. Richard DeVol, 401 Westwood Avenue, presented a petition signed by 23 residents of the street protesting the opening of the street to Lake Street, stating they were a.ainst putting the street through because resulting traffic would be dangerous to their ch4ia_=n. The probability of heavy traffic on this street was discussed and it was felt that it would not become a problem as it was not in the direct line of traffic. continued ' 395 It was also noted that it was -oo ion- to be suit- able as a cul de sac. Brown was nominated for Mayor, and on motion of Councilman Culbertson, Katzakian second, the nominations were closed. Fred M. Brown was then elected Mayor by unanimous vote and took his seat as rresidin=T officer, thanking the Council for electir_g him Hayor and stating he would do his best.
