CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF LORI
CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS
NOVEMBER 16, 1965
This adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Lodi was held beginning at 8:00 p.m. of Tuesday, November 16, 1965, in
the City Hall Council Chambers.
ROLL CALL Present: Councilmen - BROWN, CULBERTSON, DOW, WALTOI1
and KIRSTEN(Mayor)
Absent: Councilmen - None
Also present: City Manager Claves, City Attorney Mullen
and Planning Director Schroeder.
PUBLIC Mr. Marion J. Varner, Architect for the Public Safety
SAFETY Building, introduced Mr. Robert M. Snyder and Associates,
BUILDING the mechanical engineers for the Safety Building.
Mr. Varner said he would present the architectural and
structural portions of the plan and that Mr. Snyder
and his associates would explain and answer questions
on the mechanical phases of the building. Mr. Varner
explained the Federal labor requirements which would
have to be followed by the contractors because of the
civil defense portion of the building, and discussed
with the Council various parts of the plans and specifi-
cations. Mr. Snyder and his associates reviewed the
plans for the mechanical equipment, covering air con-
ditioning, plumbing and electrical. Mr. Varner said
that bids could be called for in December, but that
final approval of the civil defense plans would not be
ready before the middle of January so.award could not
be made until that time. Councilman Dow moved that the
plans and specifications for the public safety building
be approved and that call for bids be made as soon as
the wage scale required from the Federal Government was
received. His motion was seconded by Councilman Walton
and carried unanimously. Mr. Varner stated that
according to his contract, he was to furnish five sets
of the plans and specifications, but the City was to
pay for the rest. He anticipated that 35 to 40 sets
would be needed. Councilman Culbertson moved that the
additional sets be made at MX Varnex's office at the
City's expense. His motion was seconded by Councilman
Walton and carried.
ROBERT Mayor Kirsten expressed his regrets over the death'of
HcLANE Superintendent of Utilities Robert McLane and said he
would write a letter to Mrs. McLane with his condolences;
the other members of the Council stated they wished to
add their expressions of sympathy also.
PAUL On motion of Councilman Culbertson, Walton second, the
TRITENBACH City Council approved using the services of Paul
Tritenbach for landscaping the Civic Center area.
ADJOURNMENT At 10:30 p.m. on motion of Councilman Walton, Dow
second, the City Council adjourned to executive session.
