ROLL CALL Present: Councilmen - BROWN, CULBERTSON, HUFITIELL, KIRS::,:.iI and WALTON (Mayor) iviIMUTES Absent: Councilmen - None Also present were City Manager Glaves and Administra- tive Assistant Peterson. MIinutes of the previous meeting not having been received, reading thereof was continued on motion of Councilman Kirsten, Brown second. 1966-67 BUDGET JR. CHAMBER OF CONd4ERCE PUBLIC WORKS Mr. Kurt Smith, Route 1, Box 52, Lockeford, repre- senting the Lodi Junior Chamber of Commerce, presented the Council with a written report showing that the $500 allocated in 1965-66 had been used in an unsuccess- ful campaign to bring the State-wide Outstanding Young Farmer meeting to Lodi. They intended to campaign again to get this meeting in Lodi and were asking for $500 to help defray the cost. On motion of Councilman Brown, Kirsten second, the Council approved $500 fox the Junior Chamber of Commerce. The Council then considered the Public Works budget. I•ir. Glaves briefly mentioned the addition of a Water and Sewer Supervisor which had been discussed at the meeting of June 15. He said that three men should also be added to the engineering staff in order to keep abreast of the design work for the Capital Improvement Program, not including the outfall line. The positions would be Civil Engineer III, Civil Engineer I and Engineering Fide I. The Civil Engineer III could supervise the other draftsmen in the depart- ment. Their work would be charged to the Capital Improvement Proaram. If the Council does not wish to add personnel, it will be necessary to hire consultants to do the work. After discussion, members of the Council were in agreement that three engineering personnel should be added as recommended. Mr. Glaves reported that the amount of ditching at the Sanitary Landfill is being doubled and another equipment operator is needed to keep abreast of the work. The Council approved the change in operation at the Sanitary Landfill, including the addition of another equipment operator, resulting in a net increase of $13,176.00. In looking over the list of equipment requested by the Public Works Department, the Council agreed that the backhoe should be included. UTILITIES After discussion, the Utilities Department Budget was approved as recommended by the City Manager. RECREATION The Council approved the Recreation and Parks budgets & PARKS as recommended by the City Manager, In discussing the transportation in private cars of ball players sponsored by the City, the City's liability coverage was questioned and the City Manager said he would check on this. - 1 - 405 id -nu' ---es c` June 29, 196£ continued CAPIVFL The Council reviewed the Capital Outlay projopts for IMPROVEIZI-IT Lodi Lake Park and Blakely Park, Counciirnai Brovin ITEPdS suggested that the concrete costs be check^_d. They also discussed fencing the reach area at Lake Park. Councilmo-i Culbertson suggested a retaining wall be placed at the foot of the levee westerly from the park gate. 1966-67 Councilman Culbertson moved the introduction of t— OPERATING Crdinance No. 822 adopting the 1956-67 Operatl.ng BUDGET Budget as recommended by the City Manager with revisions made by the Council. The motion was CRD. NO. 822 seconded by Councilman Brovm and carried by unanimous INTRODUCED vote, t DJOURN147,-M There being no further business, the Council adjourned at 10:25 p.m. on motion of Councilman Brown, Hunnell second.
