CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF LODI
CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS
SEPTEMBER 30, 1970
A special meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was held pursuant
to written notice personally delivered to each member of the City Council at
least 24 hours before the meeting. Copies of the notice of said meeting were
also delivered to the Lodi News -Sentinel and the Stockton Record at least 24
hours prior to said meeting. The meeting was called to order by Vice Mayor
Richard Hughes at approximately 5:11 p, m, on Wednesday, September 30,
1970 in the City Hall Council Chambers.
ROLL CALL Present: Councilmen - EHRHARDT, HUGHES, KATNICH,
KIRSTEN and SCHAFFER (Mayor)
arrived at 5:37 p.m.
Absent: Councilmen - None
Also present: City Manager Glaves, Assistant City Manager
Peterson, City Attorney Mullen, Planning Director Schroeder,
Mr. Pat McDonald of the Stockton Record and Mr. Allen
Palmer of the Lodi News -Sentinel.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss salary negotiations
and the City Manager advised the Council that negotiations
with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for
salary and fringe benefit adjustments and working conditions
had been successfully concluded, and he recommended that
the matters agreed upon should be effective as of September 1,
1970. The exact details are to be set forth in a Memorandum
of Understanding and submitted to the Council as soon as it
is prepared.
EFFECTIVE
On motion of Councilman Kirsten, Ehrhardt second, the City

Association. Councilman Kirsten then moved the Council
adjourn to executive session to hear the report of the City
Manager concerning these negotiations. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Ehrhardt and carried.

Minutes of September 30, 1970 continued
faith in an effort to reach agreement. The motion was
seconded by Councilman Katnich and carried by
unanimous vote.
Councilman Hughes said he hoped in the future in subse-
quent negotiations the effective date of salary and fringe
benefit adjustments could be discussed fully to avoid
misunderstandings.
The meeting adjourned at 5:42 p.m. on motion of
Councilman Kirsten, Hughes second.
