CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF LODI
CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS
JUNE 30, 1971
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Lodi was held beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30,
1971 in the City Hall Council Chambers.
ROLL CALL Present: Councilmen - EHRHARDT, HUGHES,
KIRSTEN, SCHAFFER
and KATNICH (Mayor)
Absent: Councilmen - None
Also present: City Manager Glaves, Assistant
City Manager Peterson, Assistant City Attorney
Sullivan and Planning Director Schroeder.
PLEDGE Mayor Katnich led the Pledge of Allegiance to
the flag.
BUDGET - 1971-72
The 1971-72 budget was introduced by the City
Manager who said the entire budget had been
reviewed by the City Council. At the request
of Councilman Kirsten, the City Manager again
reviewed the following items proposed in the
Recreation and Parks Department budget: (1)
plans for holding water in Lodi Lake; (2) sand
fill at Lodi Lake beach; and (3) fence north
Stadium.
1971-72 After discussion, Councilman Kirsten moved
OPERATING introduction of Ordinance No. 957 adopting the
BUDGET Operating Budget for 1971-72 as recommended
by the City Manager after deleting the sand
ORD. NO. 957 fill at Lodi Lake beach ($15,000) and fencing
INTRODUCED the north Stadium ($3,810) from the Recreation
and Parks Department budget and with the further
understanding that the $7,500 provided in the
budget for a survey regarding Lodi Lake would
not be expended without prior approval by the
City Council. The motion was seconded by
Councilman Ehrhardt and carried by unanimous
vote.
EXECUTIVE
SESSION At approximately 8:30 p.m. the Council adjourned
to an executive session to discuss personnel
matters. The Council reconvened at 9:07 p.m.
SALARIES Assistant City Manager Peterson reviewed the
I. B. E. W. agreement reached with the International Brother-
hood of Electrical Workers Local 1245 which
RES. NO. 3521 included a 57a increase for all electrical classes
except two classes which received a 7 1/2%
increase. On motion of Councilman Kirsten,
Schaffer second, the City Council unanimously

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting
was adjourned on motion of Councilman Schaffer,
Ehrhardt second, at 9:15 p.m.

approved the terms and conditions of the
settlement with I.B.E.W. and adopted Reso-
lution No. 35Z 1 establishing the effective date
of the salary increases to be July 1, 1971.
SALARIES -
City Manager Glaves announced that agreement

had been reached with the City of Lodi Chapter,
San Joaquin County Employees Association,
RES. NO. 3522
Inc. concerning salaries and fringe benefits.
At the request of the City Manager, Assistant
City Manager Peterson also reviewed the agree-
ment reached with the Employees Association.
The agreement provides a 5% salary increase
for all employees with the exception of police

Ehrhardt moved approval of the terms and

conditions of the settlement with the Employees
Association and adoption of Resolution No. 3522
establishing the effective date of the salary
increases to be July 1, 1971. The motion
was seconded by Councilman Schaffer and
carried with Councilman Kirsten voting "No. "
