CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS
March 12, 1974
An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was held
beginning at 8:00 p, m. on Tuesday, March 12, 1974, in the City Hall Council
Chambers.
ROLL CALL Present: Councilmen - EHRHARDT, KATNICH,
(arrived 8:10), PINKERTON,
and HUGHES (Mayor)
Absent: Councilmen - SCHAFFER
Also present: City Manager Glaves, Assistant City
Manager Glenn, City Attorney Mullen, Planning
Director Schroeder, and Public Works Director Jones.
INVOCATION The invocation was given by Councilman Ehrhardt.
PLEDGE Mayor Hughes led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
EXECUTIVE At approximately 8:05 p. m. the Mayor adjourned to
SESSION executive session. The Council reconvened at ap-
proximately 8:25 p.m.
MUNICIPAL The City Clerk certified that she had canvassed the
ELECTION returns of the General Municipal Election and re -
RESULTS ported the results thereof. On motion of Councilman
Katnich, Ehrhardt second, the Council adopted the
following resolution:
RESOLUTION NO. 3893
DECLARING RESULT OF ELECTION
WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in
the City of Lodi on Tuesday, the 5th day of March, 1974, as is required by
law; and,
WHEREAS, it appears from the report of the City Clerk and the
records on file in her office that voting precincts were properly established
and the polling places thereof designated; that election officers were appointed
and qualified; that election supplies, including official ballots, were furnished
each of said precincts; and that in all respects, said election was held and
conducted and the votes received thereat received and canvassed and the
returns thereof made, determined and declared in time, form and manner
as required by the laws of the State providing for and regulating elections in
general law cities; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with Resolution No. 3874, the City Clerk
conducted the canvass of the returns of said election; and,
WHEREAS; the City Council of the City of Lodi, meeting at the City
Council Chambers this 12th day of March, 1974, to declare the results of the
election and to install the newly elected officers, finds, determines and declares,
as a result of said count and canvass as certified by the City Clerk:

(1) That said General Municipal Election was held and conducted in
the City of Lodi, California, on the 5th day of March, 1974, in time, form
and manner required by law;
(2) That there were fourteen voting precincts established in said City
for the purpose of holding said election, viz:
VOTING PRECINCT 1, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2401 and L2402.
VOTING PRECINCT 2, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2403 and L2404.
VOTING PRECINCT 3, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2406 and L2407.
VOTING PRECINCT 4, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2408 and L2409.
VOTING PRECINCT 5, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2410 and L2411.
VOTING PRECINCT 6, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2412 and L2427.
VOTING PRECINCT 7, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2413, L2414, and L2405.
VOTING PRECINCT 8, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2415 and L2416.
VOTING PRECINCT 9, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2417 and L2418.
VOTING PRECINCT 10, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2419 and L2420.
VOTING PRECINCT 11, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L24Z 1, L2422, and L2431.
VOTING PRECINCT 12, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2423 and L2430.
VOTING PRECINCT 13, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2424, L2425, and L2429.
VOTING PRECINCT 14, comprising State and County precinct
numbers L2426 and L2428.
(3) That the whole number of votes cast as said election was three
thousand five hundred and forty-eight (3, 548).
(4) That the names of the persons voted for, the offices for which they
were voted, and the number of votes received by each of said persons in each
of said precincts, together with the whole number of votes received in the
entire City by each of said persons are as follows:

RESOLVED,
THEREFORE, that at said General Municipal Election
held in the City of Lodi
on March 5, 1974, the following named persons were.
elected to the office
of City Councilman:
EZRA M. EHRHARDT,
for a term of four years from and after the
12th day of March,
1974, and until his successor shall have been elected and
shall have qualified;
RICHARD L.
HUGHES, for a term of four years from and after the 12th
day of March, 1974,
and until his successor shall have been elected and shall
have qualified;
WALTER J.
KATNICH, for a term of four years from and after the
12th day of March,
1974, and until his successor shall have been elected and
shall have qualified.
Upon the adoption
of this resolution, the City Clerk shall enter a full
copy thereof on the records of the City Council of the City of Lodi for its
meeting held this 12th
day of March, 1974.

Mayor Hughes expressed his appreciation to the
citizens of Lodi for their cooperation and support
during his term as Mayor and stated it was an
opportunity he wi1L long remember and enjoy.
OATH OF The City Clerk administered the oath of office to
OFFICE Mr. Ehrhardt, Mr. Hughes, and Mr. Katnich and
presented a certificate of election to each.
REORGANIZATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
MAYOR AND
The City Clerk called the new Council to order and
:MAYOR PRO
asked for nominations for Mayor. Councilman
TEMPORE
Ehrhardt nominated Councilman Pinkerton. The
ELECTED
motion was seconded by Councilman Katnich. There
being no further nominations, the nominations
were closed. Councilman Pinkerton was elected
by unanimous vote.
ADJOURNMENT

Mayor Pinkerton then called for nominations for
Mayor Pro Tempore. Councilman Katnich nominated
Councilman Ben Schaffer. The motion was seconded
by Councilman Hughes. There being no further
nominations, the nominations were closed. Councilman
Schaffer was elected Mayor Pro Tempore by
unanimous vote.
Mayor Pinkerton expressed the hope that the Council
could retain the same rapport this year as it had last
year and also expressed the hope that we can continue
to make this "Lovable, Livable Lodi. "
There being no further business, the Council adjourned
at approximately 8:40 p. m. on motion of Councilman
Katnich.
