HUTCHINS STREET, LODI TUESDAY, MAY 18,1999 6:00 P.M. 1. ROLL CALL Present: Council Members — Hitchcock, Nakanishi, Pennino (left at 7:15 p.m.) and Land (Mayor) Absent: Council Members — Mann Present representing the Foundation — Steward Adams, Bradley Alderson, Bruce Burlington, Daphne Felde, Julia Gillespie, Frank Johnson, Norman King, Jeffrey Kirst, John Ledbetter, Phil Lenser, Evelyn Olson, Chuck Simpson and Dennis Bennett (Chairman) Also present from the City: Deputy City Manager Keeter, Community Center Director Lange, City Attorney Hays and City Clerk Reimche 2. DISCUSSION OF ITEMS OF MUTUAL CONCERN Mayor Land welcomed the group and introduced the members of the Lodi City Council and staff who were present. Mayor Land then gave an update on various City projects and activities. Foundation Chairman Bennett presented to the Mayor a check in the amount of $25,000, which will go toward the loan repayment for the Hutchins Street Square Performing Arts and Conference Center. Mr. Bennett then gave a presentation on the accomplishments and donated dollars received, indicating that the Old Lodi Union High School Site Foundation has received $1 million since October 1997. A comprehensive binder of information regarding Hutchins Street Square was distributed to everyone in attendance. Subjects covered included, but were not limited to, the Hutchins Street Square organizational chart, volunteers, rentals, partnerships and marketing. A lengthy discussion followed with open and comprehensive dialogue between the members of the Lodi City Council and the Old Lodi Union High School Site Foundation members. The City's capital budget was discussed briefly. It was pointed out that 85% of these funds are presently being directed to debt repayment for the Square. Other City capitol needs were discussed and how the remaining 15% of these funds are now being allocated to meet these needs. Mayor Land introduced the members of the Old Lodi Union High School Site Foundation who were in attendance. 3.
