SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
CARNEGIE FORUM, 305 WEST PINE STREET
THURSDAY, APRIL 29,1999

ROLL CALL
Present: Council Members — Hitchcock, Mann, Nakanishi and Land (Mayor)
Absent: Council Members — Pennino
Also Present: City Manager Flynn, Deputy City Manager Keeter, Public Works Director Prima,
Finance Director McAthie, City Attorney Hays and City Clerk Reimche
2. REGULAR CALENDAR
a) Agenda item #B-1 entitled, "Agreement for use of Tony Zupo baseball field by the
Sacramento Steelheads on May 17, 1999 and May 18, 1999".
Deputy City Manager Keeter reported that the Steelheads are a member of the Western
Baseball League (Independent Minor League) and currently use the Sacramento City
College Union Stadium as their home field. The Sacramento Steelheads approached the
City of Lodi regarding the potential for bringing two pre -season baseball games to Tony
Zupo baseball field as they are anxious to expand their fan base south of Sacramento.
A proposed agreement was presented which details the terms of the facility use of Tony
Zupo field. The agreement requires the Steelheads to pay a daily rental fee of $500 per
day and $250 per day for two City of Lodi employees to be present during each game. In
addition, as per previous agreements with the Modesto A's and the Stockton Ports, the
Boosters of Boys and Girls Sports (BOBS) will have the sole and exclusive rights to all
food and beverage concessions.
Discussion followed with questions regarding the matter being directed to Mrs. Keeter by
members of the City Council.
The City Council, on motion of Mayor Land, Nakanishi second, approved the agreement
for use of Tony Zupo baseball field by the Sacramento Steelheads on May 17, 1999 and
May 18, 1999 by the following vote:
Ayes: Council Members — Hitchcock, Mann, Nakanishi and Land
Noes: Council Members — None
Absent: Council Members — Pennino
3. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the City Council, Mayor Land adjourned the
meeting at approximately 7:15 p.m.
