MONDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1979
11:00 a.m.
A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Lodi was held
pursuant to written notice being mailed or hand delivered to each
member of the City Council, KCVR, Lodi News Sentinel, KCRA-TV
News, Lodi Cable TV, Stockton Record, and Lodi Life and Times.
The meeting was called to order at 11:00 a.m. by Mayor Pro Tempore
Katnich at which time the Council met in Executive Session.
Present: Councilmen - McCarty, Pinkerton, and Katnich (Mayor
Pro Tempore
Absent: Councilmen - Hughes and Katzakian (Mayor)
Also City Manager Glaves, Special Council Gene Walton,
Present: and City Attorney Ron Stein. The City Clerk was
excused from attending the Executive Session.
The Council reconvened at approximately 11:35 a.m.
` and a report on the meeting was given to the members
of the press who were in attendance.
Mayor Pro Tempore Katnich reported that as a result
of this meeting the City Council's position at this time
regarding the proposed closings of various street rail
crossings within the City is
a) No crossings within the City of Lodi be closed.
b) that the City Council reluctantly offered to close
Oak and Walnut Street rail crossings as a compromise
position - that the compromise is contingent on Southern
Pacific immediately moving toward construction of drop-
down gates at the other six downtown crossings,
c) that it is the recommendation of the City Council
that the Southern Pacific switching and storage yard be
moved to the South of town.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 12 noon by Mayor Pro
Tempore Katnich.
