JOINT MEETING OF THE
LODI CITY COUNCIL AND THE
LODI ARTS COMMISSION
SENIOR CENTER, 125 SOUTH HUTCHINS, LODI
TUESDAY, MARCH 22, 1994
7:00 P.M.
Rall was recorded by Deputy City Clerk Peterson as follows:
Present: Council Members - Davenport, Mann, Pennino, Snider and Sieglock (Mayor)
Absent: Council Members - None
Present: Arts Commissioners - Kerner, Kundert, Levy, Maley, Mattheis, Moms-Olagaray,
Van Fleet and Withers
Absent: Arts Commissioners - Crabtree, Gonzales and Olson
Also Present: City Manager Peterson, Community Center Director Lange and City Attorney

The meeting was convened at approximately 7:00 p.m.
Following a dinner prepared by the members of the Lodi Arts Commission, the meeting was opened by
Arts Commission member Pamela Van Fleet. Ms. Van Fleet urged the City Council to be concerned for
the arts. She asked the City Council for increased support of the arts in the form of an expanded budget.
Commission member Mario Kerner reviewed the coming season's "Friday Night Live" program and
distributed copies of the series schedule, as well as the schedule for noon -time concerts. Mr. Kerner
discussed his perception of the connection of the arts to the success of the proposed downtown
revitalization project.
Commission member Tim Mattheis requested of the City Council that serious consideration be given to
the funding of a full-time position of Arts Coordinator.
Commission member Don Levy spoke briefly regarding the Drama Fest.
There was considerable discussion among the Council Members and the Arts Commission regarding the
future of arts in the City of Lodi.
There being no further business to come before this joint meeting, the meeting was adjourned at
approximately 8:50 p.m.
