Continued October 29, 1997 Transportation appears to be the major problem facing the program at the present time, although it is anticipated that these problems are being resolved. Transportation from outlying areas have posed the greatest problem. Mayor Pennino and other representatives of the City of Lodi asked how the City could help in resolving this problem. Discussion regarding the subject followed. Following an inquiry, Mark Wilbur, Director of Accounting for Lodi Memorial Hospital, stated that there has been a cumulative deficit of approximately $70,000 - $80,000 for the program; however, last year the program broke even, and it would appear that this year it will also break even. It was reported that the present patient census is approximately 15 and that the program can handle up to a maximum of 30 patients. Public awareness of this program was discussed, with the question being posed as to whether there has been any polling done on the use of the facility and the community's perception of the program.
