I share your view that `he Davis -Bacon Act is an unnecessary and inflationary government intrusion into local work practices and wage structures. For this reason, I have joined In sponsoring H.R. 1325, a bill introduced by Representative magedorn which provides for the repeal of the Act. H.R. 1325 is presently pending in the House Education and Labor Suboonmittee on Labor F:tandards. No action has been taken to date. Although I am not a member of the D3ucation and Labor 00mmittee, you may be certain that I will support all legislative efforts to repeal the Davis -Bacon Act which are presented to the full House for consideration. Again, tha.-*s for your kindness in writing. S; erely, NORM D. SHLM AY Mevber of Congress NDS/fp RESOLUTION NO. RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LODI URGING REPEAL OF THE DAVIS-BACON ACT WHEREAS, the Davis -Bacon Act is a 50 -year old law which causes enormous waste of local tax resources by requiring federally established prevailing wages on all public construction of which any part is funded by federal fends. WHEREAS, the repeal of the Davis -Bacon Act will save the taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars each year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby urge the repeal of the Davis -Bacon Act thereby returning to °esponsible local government officials the power to make those policy decisions about the use of local tax dollars even when federal funding is involved.
