SUBJECT: SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PURCHASE OF 60 -KV STEEL SUBSTATION STRUCTURES (UD -E83-11)
Specifications for the purchase of one deadend, two switch support and three
bus support 60-kv steel substation structures are presented for Council's
approval and permission to advertise for bids is requested. The bid opening
date has been set for Tuesday, January 24, 1984.
The structures will be required in conjunction with the installation of a
second power transformer :r Henning Substation. The expansion at this
substation is necessary as a result of increased load in the south/east
areas of the city.
The estimated cost of this purchase is $11,000, funding for which has been
included in the current budget. Delivery is expected in 3-4 months.

SUBJECT: SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PURCHASF. OF POWER TRANSFORMER (UD -E83-10)
Specifications for the purchase of one 60/12-kv, 35 -MVA, three-phase,
power transformer are presented for Council's approval and permission
to advertise for bids is requested. The bid opening date has been set
for Tuesday, January 24, 1984.
The transformer will be installed at Henning Substation as a part of the
Phase 2 development now in progress. The second Henning Substation
transformer is required to supply the area loaf under 'emergency' conditions,
commencing with the 1985 summer season, and will be needed to supply the
'normal' load in subsequent years. The cost estimate for this purchase is
$290,000 with delivery expected in 8 months (October 1984).
It is further requested that Council appropriate the sum of $365,000 for
both the above purchase and for the purchase of two power circuit breakers
(one 60 kv, one 12 kv) to be used in conjunction with this power transformer.
The circuit breakers will be specified and bid in early 1984, in order to
allow delivery to coincide with the transformer delivery.
It should be noted that the City will not actually be making any payments
on this equipment prior to fiscal year 1984-85.
