Agent to advertise for bids to be received Wednesday, December 19 1984. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City advertises for asphalt material on a semi-annual basis This bid will cover asphatt material needed` during the last half of Fiscal Year January 1, 1985 through June 30, 1985. Ronsko Pub) c Works Director Attac meats cc: James Pruss JLR/GCB:sls APPROVED: Quantities 900 Tons 150 Tons r s FELE NO. �J 4Z7 NOTICE TO BIDDERS AND SUPPLIERS OF ASPHALT MATERIAL The City of Lodi invites sealed proposals for furnishing -asphalt material for the third and fourth quarters of fiscal year 1.984-85 conforming to specifications on file in the office of the Public Works Director, City Hall, Lodi, CA, where copies of said specifications may be inspected or obtained. Sealed proposals shall be delivered to the Purchasing Agent at Lodi City Hall, Call Box 3006, (221 W. Pine Street), Lodi, CA 95241-1910, on or before: 11:00 A.M., WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 1984 and will be opened on the above day and hour in the City Hall Council Chambers, City Hall, Lodi, CA. The City of Lodi reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to accept other than the lowest bid. Reference is hereby made to said specifications for further details, which specifications and.this notice shall be considered part of any contract made pursuant thereto. James W. SPECIFICATIONS FOR ASPHALT MATERIAL Sealed proposals marked "Bid on Asphalt Material" will be received by the Purchasing Agent in his office, Lodi City Hall, Call Box 3006, 221 W. Pine Street, Lodi, CA 95241-1910, until 11:00 A.M. , Wednesday, December 19, 1984, at which time they will be publicly opened and read for the following quantities of asphalt material: Item No. 1: 900 Tons of Dense Grade Asphalt Concrete, Type B, 3/8" Item No. 2: 150 Tons of Dense Grade Asphalt Concrete, Type B. 112" 810 REQUIREMENTS 1. All bids shall be submitted on the bid proposal form attached. 2. Asphalt concrete shall be delivered into the hopper of paving machine at the time, rate end location as determined by the City Engineer. 3. All asphalt material shall comply with the requirements and. amendments of the 1984 Standard Specifications published by the Division of Highways, California Department of Public Works. 4. Asphalt concrete shall be Type B and shall conform to the provisions of Section 39 of the Standard Specifications and these special provisions. The amount of asphalt binder to be mixed with the aggregate shall be between 4 percent and 1 percent by weight of the dry aggregate. The supplier shall submit an asphalt concrete mix design by a certified testing laboratory 30 days after award of bid. All bituminous binder shall be viscosity grade AR -4000 liquid asphalt, conforming to those applicable parts of Section 92 of the Standard Specifications. 5. Successful bidders shall supply asphalt material at bid p ice from January 1, 1985 through June 30, 1985, a total of six months. 6. Partial bids may be submitted. 1. The City of Lodi reserves the right co increase or decrease any of the quantities within reasonable limits (plus or minus 25%). 8. The award will be made by the Lodi Ci�y Council at its meetinq on Wednesday, January 2, 1985. PSEQO1/ampbs1 0 Specifications for Asphalt Material Page 2 9. The bid may be awarded to one or more suppliers depending on the actual bids received. 10. In awarding the bid on Alternate A (F.O.B. Plant), the City will award the bid based on the bid received, the City's hauling costs, road conditions to plant and any other related factors. 11. Cost of standby time shall be considered as included in contract price for asphalt concrete. 12. The City of Lodi reserves the right to reject any or all bids received.
