HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - December 2, 1987 (76)Ltl ER 2, CONSIDER REQUEST OF OLD LODI UNION HIGH SCHOOL SITE FOUNDATION RELATING TO THE BEQUEST OF THE WILLIAM HOLT ESTATE Mr. Dennis Bennett gave a presentation regarding the bequest of the William Holz estate. The Foundation's CC -27(e) proposal is to move aggressively towards fulfilling the wishes of tar. Holz. The course of action includes: I. Request proposals from a variety of architectural firms for the completion of the working drawings for th,- senior/well-care complex. 2. Use the five -member Senior Planning Committee, which serves under the direction of t;?e Senior Citizens Commission, as an ad hoc review team for the development of the plans. 3. Architectural fees advanced from the City upon the selection of an appropriate design team. These funds would be rebated immediately when the estate is settled. A motion was made by Mayor Pro Tempore Snider that Staff proceed with the development of a recommendation of an architectural firm for the completion of the working drawings of the senior well -care complex to be funded through the bequest of the William Holz estate. The motion was seconded by Mayor Olson and carried by the following vote: Ayes: Council Members - Hinchman, Pinkerton, Reid, Snider and Olson (Mayor) Noes: Council Members - None Absent: Council Members - None C U ti C I L C .. FROM: THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE December 2, 1987 SUBJECT: CONSIDER REQUEST FROM THE OLD LODI UNION HIGH SCHOOL SITE FOUNDATI01vt RELATING TO THE BEQUEST OF THE WILLIAM HOLZ ESTATE PREPARED BY: Community Center Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council request of the Old LUHS Site Foundation to proceed with the development of a recommendation of an architectural firm for the completion of the working drawings of the senior well -care complex to be funded through the bequestof the William Holz estate. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City is fortunate to have been named in the William Holz estate to receive funds for the construction of a senior facility at Hutchins Street Square. It appears the estate will be settled later in the spring of 1988. The Foundation has had the initial drawings for a senior well -care facility completed and would like to proceed with the final working drawings so the entire package will be available for construction bids upon the finalization of the estate. The Foundation's proposal is to move aggressively towards fulfilling the wishes of William Holz.
