NO. 37-170 Connell, on motion of Council Member Reid, i?inchman second, adopted Resolution No. 87-270 authorizing the City Clerk to CC -28 enter into an agreement with the County of San Joaquin, for the Office of the Registrar of Voters to provide certain services for the election. Council, on motion of Council Member Pinkerton, Hinchman second, voted to consider the following matter inasmuch as the material for this subject was received after the agenda had been printed and circulated. APPROVE ENTERING INTO A CONTRACT WITH COUNTY OF SAN JOAQUIN FOR THE COUN71Y REGISTRAR OF VOTERS TO PROVIDE CERTAIN SERVICES FOR THE APRIL 12, 1988 GENERAL ELEGTION RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached Resolution No. 87- 170 approving the City enterinn into a contract with the County of San Joaquin for the County Registrar of Voters to provide certain services for the April 12, 1988 General Municipal Election. It is necessary for the City of Lodi to receive certain services from the County of San Joaquin for the April 12, 1988 General Municipal Election. We will need to obtain, froia the County computer, records of the name-, and addresses of all eligible registered voters in the City of Lodi for use on labels to be affixed on sample ballots. The County also checks candidate petitions for qualified signatures and provides other services and equipment as needed. Alice M. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OE LODI, CALIFORNIA, F%L"e" STING THE 6OARD 017 SUPERVISORS OF THE COU'C Y OF SAN JOAQUIN Tf, RENDER SPECIFIED SERVICES TO THE CITY RELATI:`I6 TO THE CONDUCT OF A GEINEP.AL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDikY, APRIL 12, 1988 WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election is to be held in the City of Lodi, California, on April 12, 1988; and WHEREAS, in the course of conduct of the election it is necessary for the City to request services of the County; and WHEREAS, all necessary expense in performing this service shall be paid by the City of Lodi; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LOD., CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That, pursuant to the provisions of Sectio: ?003 of the Elections Code of the State of California, this City Council .aquests the Board of Supervisors of the County to permit the County Election Department to prepare and furnish to the City for use in conducting the election the computer record of the names and addresses of all eligible registered voters in the City in order that the City may print labels to be attached to self -mailer sample ballot pamphlets; and will also furnish to the City printed indices of the voters to be used by the precinct board at the polling places; and will make available to the City additional election equipment and assistance according to state taw. Section 2. That the City shall reimburse the county for services performed when the work is completed and upon presentation to the City of a properly approved bill. Section 3. That the City Clerk is directed to forward without delay to the Board of Supervisors and to the County Election Department, each a certified copy of this resolution.. Section 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution and enter it into the book of original Resolutions. Dated: December 2, 1987 87-170 . Re;mEhe \ .\ Z Cl rk \ <� \ :\ £ < \ - / \\ ( . � L . 87-170 E E k] HIS AGREEMENT made this loth day of , 1987 , between the County of San - oacrain, a political subdivision of t--. e State of California, hereinafter called "COUNTY -If and the City of Lodi, a municipal corporation hereinafter called "CITY" W I T N E S S E T H WHEREAS, the City desires to hold a general :municipal election to be held on the 12th of April, 1988, and the City desires to make use of certain services and eauiwment of the Office of the Registrar of Voters and to pay "he County for its cost thereof, pursuant to the provisions of this agreement; NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby agreed as follows: 1. The County agrees to make no changes in precinct boundaries within (90) days of the election. 2. The County agrees that the Office of the Registrar of Voters shall do the following things for tre City: (a) Furnish one map showing all precincts embraced in whole or part of the City of Lodi. (b) Provide at no charge except for replacement in case of loss or damage, sufficient voting booths, flags, stands, tables, chairs, and ballot boxes as necessary for the City to conduct said election. (c) Provide computer tapes as necessary for use by Martin & I Chapman for printing of labels and indices. (d) Provide stand-by computer service for election night. (e) Provide election officers training classes. 1 3.The City agrees that they will prcvide test ballots and a logic and accuracy test deck for the Office of the Registfar of Voters for use in preparation of stand-by computer service fog election .sight. The City agrees to gay the County for the cost of the above services which is estimated to be approximately $700.00. This is an estimate only and the City shall pay the actual cost of such services.
