On October 2nd, 1985 the City Council authorized the City of Lodi to accept a grant frm the Office of Traffic Safety to establish a Traffic Unit for the Police Proartment. On October 15, 1985 a request for bids was sent to aIi major dualershipn in rhe surronw inq area. Four motorcycle dealers sent in bids and on October 29th the G i •ds we" opem:d . Some bidders included the siren and some did not. .nrW nra, it Wa difficult to properly evaluate all of the bids. Subsequently all of the hills were- rejected. The dealers were requested to submit new bids that included v s i ren ( cant p W inn , l 1 ion ) as part of the total bid. The same four dealers submitted a second bid that was or;er^d on 1%,. Spine+' -i's Bike Shop Jackson $18,414.12 The bid specifications required motorcycles with four (4) cylinders and the Harley- ✓idson motorcycle has two (2) cylinders. Ctiet Williams requests the Council reject the bid fror: Valley Harley-Davidson and accept the bid from B & T Kawasaki. Captain Hansen will report to Council why the bid specifications called for tour (4) cylinders and justification for awarding the bid to a Kawasaki dealership. RESOLUTION NO. 85-164 AWARD - BID FOR THREE SOLO -TYPE ENFORCEMENT MOTORCYCLES WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened by the City Clerk of this City on November -8, 1985 at 11:00 a.m. for the contract for three Solo -Type Enforcement Motorcycles as described in the specifications therefor approved by the City Council and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: Bidder Bid Valley Harley Davidson $17,800.05 Roseville Cycle $18,315.81 B & T Kawasaki $18,281.82 Spinetti' s $18,414.42 WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends that award be made to the second low bidder, B & T Kawasaki in the amount of $18,281.82 inasmuch as the low bidder, Valley Harley Davidson's bid does not meet specifications. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Lodi that award of contract for three Solo -Type Enforcement Motorcycles be and the same is hereby made to B & T Kawasaki, the second low bidder, in the amount of $18,281.82.
