COUNCIL CO11IMUNICAbON
TO THE CITY COUNCIL DATE
FROM THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE November 12, 1982
SUBJECT
REVISION OF HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
In the Memorandum of Understanding signed this year with the
General Services Unit and the Maintenance and Operators
Unit, it was mutually agreed that members of those Units
would observe the day after Thanksgiving as a fixed holiday
and that the City offices would be closed on that day.
If a holiday falls on a Saturday, the City has agreed to
observe the preceding Friday as a holiday. For practical
purposes, this only will occur when rew Year, July Fourth,
and Christmas fall on a Saturday. All other holidays are
observed on a fixed day of the week.
The MOU also provides the number of floating holidays will
be reduced from 4 to 3.
Council is respectfully requested to modify the present
1.oliday policy to incorporate these changes.
