Budget: 1984 Fund: Federal Revenue Sharing Amount Budgeted: $120,000 Total Project Estimate: $60,000 Bid Opening Date: October 31, 1984 RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council reject all bids and direct the Public Works Director to redesign and readvertise the project. BACYGROUND INFORMATION: Th's project includes the installation of an additional storm drain outfall along tho west bank of Lodi Lake. The present pump station outfall is near the swim area and is a nuisance when in use. The proposed outfall will carry all the discharge except during major storms when excess flow will divert to the present outfall. This should pose no problem since the swim area should not be in use during those times. Plans and specifications for this project were approved on October 3, 1984. AMOUNT OF BID $ 95,274.00 $ 97,237.00 $ 97.725.00 $104,966.00 $167,850.00 $169,511.00 $ 60,000 The Engineer's Estimate was based on the assumption that cast -in-place concrete pi=pe would be installed. The contractors felt this would not be feasible due to possible soil conditions and access limitations and priced the project for steel pipe. By redesigning the project to allow the pipe to be installed west (see attached sketch) of the levee, these problems will be minimized. In addition, the cost of the overflow structure will be reduced. These charges should save at least $15,000. By approving this change now, the redesign and bidding can be done before the first of the year and the work can be done before the Lake is refilled this ng. ag � Ja L.
