FROM THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE OctobeU1 e•- Y;, 124 SUBJECT Portable Basketball Floor - Pavilion."u "N 17 iii! '0 52 Robbins, Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio, submitted the lone bid for the proposed portable basketball floor to replace the floor that was ruined by rain last year. The company has submitted 3 alternates, ranging in price from $50,569.00 to $52,953.00, f.o.b. Lodi with all taxes included. All of the alternates are basically the same; the only differences evolve around the Grade and color of the maple hardwood material to be used. Alternate #1: #1 grade maple with some color in it $51,929.00 Alternate #2: #1 grade maple clear. Every board is the same color, whereas in Alternate #1 colors vary. .$52,953.00 Alternate #3: 42 grade maple. In essence, all are quality wood. $50,569.00 All bidb are well within the estimate of $52,000.00 and the company meets all other rcquirements. I would like to recommend that Alternate #1 be accepted in the amount of $51,929.00, or some $1,420.00 more than the lowest bid. We would, however, get a better grade of maple, which I feel is important, for very little difference. I feel that a little color in the maple is more esthetic than all one color -- in short, the floor looks prettier. A tti, Director and Parks P,ESOLUT ICN NO. 84-161 it •• `1/ i •0.
