PETERSON Cay Manager -3G10E:.1A REIMCHE 'City Attorney -1y CLERK L0,U: I'd like to thank you on behalf of the Public Works Department and City Council for your concern for traffic safety within the City of Lodi. I'd like to assure you that the timing of the signals on Lodi avenue and the signals on Church Street are also of concern to our department. Hopefully, this work will be completed by December 1987. The newer signals in Lodi have been installed with advanced loop detection have the ability to recognize that a single car coming to an intersection is the first and last car. Therefore, the signal should turn green upon its arrival and, knowing it's the last car in the intersection, it should turn yellow as the car is going through the intersection. If you witness red while going through the intersection in this situation, I would appreciate you phoning me with the location of thi.s signal problem. I did take the time to evaluate your concern about site distance at Lower Sacramento Road and Elm Street. I found that with cars stopped at the stop line, there is sufficient site distance to the south. Thank you again for your safety concerns. Jack L.
