I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oregon (1976
where I studied both fine and applied arts. As a youngster I studied
art apreciation under my grandfather who was an artist in the Carmel,
and later Manteca areas. I have been a past member of the Cental Calif.
Art League in Modesto Personally I do sculpture, water color and pencil
.graphics I have a desire to see the arts whether visual or performing,
have and maintain a_priorityplace in any community's life. I'm fairly
new to Lodi but have already ioined the Lodi Art Center. I have two "
daughters both of whom are artistic, and it is to see that their future
in the arts is secured and all those of futuregenerations, that I would
i
like to work towards with the Lodi Arts Commission. (over) _
During 198E I worked as Lifestyle Editor with The Manteca News
in Manteca and had the opportunity to follow the growth of that
community's fledgling Mayor's Committee for the Arts and was, myself,
one of the displaying artists at their first public exhibition.
I also attended several of the Manteca Kindred Arts programs and
interviewed Neal LoMonaco, cellist with the Sacramento Symphony,
when he came to Manteca. I am interested in helping to see to it
that proper funding is found for arts programs in the community as
well as to see that as.wide a diversity of arts as possible is
brought to our community, and that we do all we can to foster our
own citizens to tap their own hidden talents and give them opportunities
to do so.
