NO. 82-100 Following introduction of the matter by Staff, Council on motion of Council Member Pinkerton, Olson second, adopted Resolution No. 82-100 authorizing the City Manager to execute a revised STA Claim for 1981-82 in the amount of $13,100.01. -..,COUNCIL CONIMUNIC TO THE CITY COUNCIL FROM, THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE DATE NO. AUGUST 12, 1982 SUBJECT: REVISED STATE TRANSIT ASSISTANCE (STA) CLAIM FOR FISCAL YEAR 1981-82 In order to fund the Dial -A -Ride operation for each fiscal year, the City is required to prepare a claim for State Transit Assistance (STA) Funds. Last year, the City filed a claim for $51,500 of operating funds and $55,000 of Capital funds. However, revenue did not meet expectations and Capital costs overran estimates, resulting in a shortfall of $13,100.01. The request for operating funds was predicated on receiving $32,190 from farebox revenue. This estimate was based on transporting 45,625 patrons of which 6,250 would pay $2.00 per ride. The actual number of rides for 1981-82 was 44,058 of which 223 pa -id $2.00 per ride. This resulted in a shortfall of farebox revenue of $8,709.50. The Equipment budget was predicated upon estimates received in the late Summer of 1981. The cost of radios was $623.00 over estimate, the cost of vehicles was $9,318.48 over estimate, and unanticipated repair costs to the vehicles was $1,127.88. Therefore, for Capital expenses, we had an over- run of $10,069.36. It is appropriate to now file a revised claim for 1981-82. The City of Lodi does have sufficient allotted funds to finance this claim. Council is respectfully requested to authorize the City Manager to execute a revised STA claim for 1981-82 in the amount of $13,100.01. e."- RY L. Attach additional pages as necessary, as well as any other supporting materials. This claim is made to recover costs associated with operating the Lodi Dial -A -Ride for 1981-82. The major reasons for this revised claim were: 1. The cost of equipment was significantly more than was anticipated when the original claim was prepared. 2. The general public ridership was significantly less than was projected which resulted in a lower farebox return than was anticipated. 3. There were repairs made to equipment as a result of accidents that were not originally claimed.
