RFIMCiIc CITY QbFR CITY Or LODI • Subject: Greyhound Lines, Inc.'s proposed abandonment of pa.ssenaer bus service to over 99 points in California, Application 83-01-17, ICC No. IGC -1515 (Sub. No. 333). This letter is for the purpose of bringing you up to date on developments in the above matter. As you probably know on February 16, 1983 the Public Utilities Commission dismissed Greyhound's application to abandon over 90 service points in California. The dismissal was due to Greyhound's failure to provide cis with adequate information to support its application and due to Greyhound's inadequate notice to the affected communities. On June 3, 1983 Greyhound petitioned the Interstate Commerce Commission requesting that the ICC grant the abandonment. On June 20, 1933 the California Public Utilities Commission filed an objection to Greyhound's petition. As prescribed by the federal Bus Regulatory Reform Act~ of 1982, the ICC must act on Greyhound's petition within 90 days of Greyhound's June 3, 1983 filing. We recognize that there is some confusion as to which points are proposed for abandonment of service. Attached is a list covering the points alphabetically by county which our staff has prepared based on information supplied by Greyhound. In the event of an adverse ruling by the ICC, our Commission plans to petition the United States Court of Appeals for review and would seek an emergency stay order frow. the Court to prevent the aband)nment from occurring while the Court reviews the merits of the case. If you have any questions regarding this ICC proceeding please contact Harvey Morris, our staff attorney handling this case, at (415) 557-0171.
