FROM: THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE July 15, 1987 SUBJECT: SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PURCHASE OF POLE -MOUNTED TRANSFOMMERS EUD-87-6 REC%MNDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the specifications for the purchase of four 10 KVA, fifteen 25 KVA, fourteen 37.5 KVA, sixteen 50 KVA and eight 75 KVA single-phase, pole -mounted transformers and authorize advertisement for bids thereon. The bid opening date has been set for August 11, 1987. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The transformers will he used for replacement in the PCB change -out program and to maintain an inventory for other needs as they develop. The estimated cost of this purchase is $47,000 with delivery expected in approximately four to five months. Funding is available in the Electric Utility Department's operating fund. THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE July 15, 1987 j( SUBJECT: SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PURCHASE OF PADMOUNT TRANSFORMERS EUD-87-7 RECOMMENDED ACTION: The the City Council approve the specifications for the purchase of six 75 KVA single-phase, two 500 KVA and one 1500 KVA three-phase padmount transformers and authorize advertisement for bids thereon. The bid opening date has been set for August 11, 1987, BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The transformers will be used to serve new customer loads, for the PCB replacement program and to maintain an inventory for other needs and emergencies as they develop. The estimated cost of this purchase is $46,000 with delivery expected in approximately five months. Funding is available in the Electric Utility Department's operating fund. Henry J. THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE July 15, 1987 SUBJECT: SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PURCHASE OF 15 -KV XLPE CABLE EUD-87-8 RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the Citv Council approve the specifications for 15,000 feet of #2 Aluminum, 20,000 feet of #2/0 Aluminum and 40,000 feet of 750 MCM Aluminum 15-kv concentric neutral cable and authorize advertisement for bids thereon. The bid opening date has been set for Tuesday, August 18, 1987. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The cable will be used throughout the city to serve developments currently being designed and to maintain an inventory for other needs as they develop. Some of the specific projects requiring this cable are: Rutledge Drive reconstruction Lodi Avenue undergrounding Main feeder on Century Blvd. Additional main feeder to General Mills, Inc. Sun West #9 Meadows #2 Temple Baptist Church The estimated cost of this purchase is $147,000 with delivery expected in 3 to 4 months. Sealed proposals shall be delivered to the Purchasing Officer at the Lodi City Hall, Call Box 3006 (221 W. Pine Street), Lodi, CA 95241-1910 at or before 11:00 A.M., WEDNESDAY, JULY 29, 1987 and will be opened on the above day and hour in the City Hall Council Chambers, City Hall, Lodi, California. The City of Lodi reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to accept other than the lowest bid. Reference is hereby made to said specifications for further details, which specifications and this notice shall be considered part of any contract made pursuant thereto. Pine Street), Lodi, CA 95241-1910, until 11:00 A.M., on Wednesday, July 29, 1987, at which time they will be publicly opened and read. BID REQUIREMENTS 1. General Descrivtion of the Work The work to be done consists, in general, of sealing various streets by placing a Class II Slurry Seal over existing pavement. Areas to be Slurry Sealed are shown on attached City of 'Lodi map. c Specifications Slurry Seal shall conform to the requirements of Section 37-2, State of California, Standard Specifications, July 1984. Mixing and placing of Slurry Seal shall conform to the requirements of Section 37-2, State of California, Standard Specifications, July 1984. 3. Materials 3.1 Asphaltic Emulsion shall be cationic quick -setting type conforming to the requirements for CSS1-h grade, Section 94 "Asphaltic Emulsions". 3.2 Application of Slurry Seal The mixture shall be spread to an average thickness of 3/16" with a minimum thickness of not less than 1/8" and a maximum thickness not to exceed 1/4" and shall be placed at a rate of not less than 10 pounds or more than 18 pounds of aggregate per square yard. Special Provisions 4.1 Surface Preparation City of Lodi shall be responsible to flush, patch and crackfill streets prior to sealing. 4.2 Stockpile of Material City of Lodi shall supply area to store aggregate required for sealing. Stockpile area shown on attached City map. 4.3 Weight Tags City of Lodi shall be supplied a copy of the weight tags of the aggregate delivered to the stockpile. 4.4 Sieve Analysis Successful bidder shall sutowit a sieve analysis by a certified testing laboratory prior to delivering aggregate to stockpile. 4.5 Notification of Residents City of Lodi shall notify residents of street closure, date and time. 4.6 Protection of Utility Risers City of Lodi shall oil all utility risers prior to sealing and clean lids after sealing. 4.7 Maintaining Traffic and Protection of Work Site Contractor shall be responsible to furnish all barricades and signs to protect work site and safe passage of public traffic. 4.8 Beginning and Ending Limits of Work Start and finish of Slurry application shall be a straight line obtained by laying a strip of building material and removing after Slurry Seal.is applied. P/SS1/TXTW.01C Notice Invitinc Siu Slurry Seal Paee Slurry Seal shall cover the crack between toe of gutter and pavement without protruding onto the concrete. No excessive build-up nor unsightly appearance shall be permitted on longitudinal or transverse joints. 4.9 The contract price of the Class II Slurry Seal shall include full compensation for furnishing all labor, material, tools and equipment to apply the Class II Slurry Seal and no additional compensation will be allowed therefore. This includes cleaning up all excess materials and protecting the Seal from traffic damage until the mixture is cured sufficiently so that material will not adhere to the tires of a vehicle. 4.10 Contractor shall complete work within 30 days after award of bid.
