CITY OF LODI PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT TO: City Council FROM: City Manager DATE- July 9, 1981 SUBJECT: Church Street Improvements COUNCIL COMMUNICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council award the bid for CHURCH STREET IMPROVEMENTS, Lockeford Street to Turner Road to Teichert Construction Co., Inc., the low bidder, in the amount of $277.373.60 (Alt. 8). BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Plans and specifications for this project were ap- proved by t e City Count11 on June 17, )981. Bids were opened on Wednesday, July 8, 1981, and the following three bids were received: The Alternates were for different types of pavement construction; ''A'' - Standard construction asphalt concrete and aggregate base over compacted subgrade; "B" - Full depth asphalt concrete over compacted subgrade; "C" - Asphalt concrete over cement treated soil. Alternates ''B" and ''C" do not require as deep an excavation as "A" and were requested due to existing shallow utilities. A tabulation of the bids has also been attached. c L. LOCKEFORD STREET TO TURNER ROAD, LODI WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened by the City Clerk of this City on July 8, 1981 at 11:00 a.m. for the Contract for Church Street Improvements, Lockeford Street to Turner Road, as described in the specifications therefor approved by the City Council June 17, 1981; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: BIDDER Teichert Construction Co., Inc. B).
