Gentlemen:
Enclosed please find certified copy of Resolution No. 82-67
entitled, "Resolution urging that the League of California
Cities no longer hold meetings in the Cly of San Francisco
because of the high cost of accommodation, etc. and in
view of the recently enacted weapons legislation adopted
by that City", which Resolution was adopted by the Lodi City
Council at its regular meeting of July 7, 1982.

RESOLUTION NO. 82-67
RESOLUTION URGING THAT THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA
CITIES NO LONGER HOLD MEETINGS IN THE CITY OF SAN
FRANCISCO BECAUSE OF THE HIGH COST OF ACCOMMODATIONS,
ETC. AND IN VIEW OF THE RECENTLY ENACTED WEAPONS
LEGISLATION ADOPTED BY THAT CITY.
WHEREAS, Cities throughout the State of California
are deeply concerned with increased costs and their diminishing
sources of revenues, and
WHEREAS, Cities throughout the State fully recognize
the value of workshops, conferences, meetings addressing
subjects of mutual concern to all cities;
WHEREAS, the League of California Cities has regularly
scheduled such meetings in the City of San Francisco, where the
escalating costs of accommodations, meals etc., have reached
such a level as to deter and reduce the attendance.
WHEREAS, the City of San Francisco recently enacted
gun control legislation to which the City Council of the City
of Lodi is opposed, and does not feel is a responsible piece of
legislation.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council
of the City of Lodi does hereby urge that the League of
California Cities no longer schedule League meetings to be
held in the City of San Francisco because of the high costs of
accommodations, meals, etc. in that City, and in view of the
recently enacted legislation adopted by that City.

I hereby certify that Resolution No. 82-67 was
passed and adopted by the City Council of the City
of Lodi in a regular meeting held July 7, 1982 by the
following vote:
Ayes: Council Members - Snider, Olson, Pinkerton,
and Murphy
Noes: Council Members - Reid
Absent: Council Members - None
