Council approved a Special Allocation Request for $4,100 for purchasing a used pickup truck to be used for the sidewalk maintenance program. i i CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT TO: City Council FROM: City Manager DATE: JUNE 26, 1985 SUBJECT: Temporary Repairs to City Sidewalk RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve a Special Allocation Request for 4,100 for purchasing a used pickup truck. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Public Works Department is currently performing a sidewalk inspection and inventory of all of the hazardous sidewalks within the City of Lodi. We have divided the City into six districts and we have just completed the inspection of the third district. Based on this data, it appears that there will be approximately 2,000 areas that will require temporary patching. This is viewed as a very high priority project, and we should make every effort to complete this program as rapidly as possible. Initially it was our intent to start the patching with one two -person -crew. Now that we have some feel for the amount of temporary patching needed, it is the feeling of the Street Superintendent with one additional temporary two-man crew we can accomplish the majority of the required temporary patching before the rainy season begins. However, because of the shortage of vehicles during the summer season, it will be necessary to purchase an additional pickup truck for the second patching crew. We have located a 1976 Ford 3/4 ton pickup in good condition. It is recommended that Special Allocation in the amount of $4,100 be approved for the purchase of a used 3/4 ton pickup truck. At the conclusion of the project we will evaluate our need to retain or dispose of the truck. Jac L. Ronsko Publ'c Works Director /cag APPROVED: J/J 7 -) . FILE NO. THOMAS A. PETERSON, City Manager
