Council was informed that recent amendments to the State of
California Government Code allows for an increase in the

FOLL ONG THE CANVASS OF THE 1986 COUNCILMATIC ELECTION
Attached you will find a draft ordinance, which pursuant to recent
amendments to the State of California Government Code, allows for an
increase in the salaries for council members. In cities over 35,000 up to
and including 50,C00 in population, each member of the council
can receive $400.00 per month.
The Government Code of the State of California further provides that
salary increases cannot become effective until such time as a member of
the council coRmences a new term. Therefore, it is in order for the City
Council to pass on this ordinance; however, the increase in salary will
not became effective until the official canvass of the 1986
Councilmatic election has been accepted, and the council members electr�d
have been sworn in.
RBCOKMI DED ACTION: Council introduce Ordinance Amending Lodi Municipal
Code Chapter 2, City Council Salaries (Title 2, Chapter 2.08) as
authorized by Government Code Section 36516 (a) (2).
