THE CITY CG?UlvCit FRO"A: THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE SUBJECT: C f)U CIL COMMIJ NICATIC" July 1, 1987 STATUS REPORT REGARDING BOATING ON LODI LAKE PREPARED BY: City Manager RECOMMENDED ACTION: None required. Information only. NO. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: At its regular meeting of June 17, 1987, the City Council heard a recommendation from the Parks and Recreation Commissi0n to prohibit the operation of motorized boats on Lodi Lake. This recommendation was developed following two public meetings the Commission conducted on this matter. A number of people concerned about the possible prohibition of motorized boats on Lodi Lake addressed the Council at the June 17 meeting and presented a petition signed by over 400 people supporting the continued operation of motorized boats on the Lake. At the conclusion of a -lengthy discussion, the City Council reterred this matter back to the Parks and Recreation Commission with the instruction to explore the possibilities of a compromise solution. This issue has been referred to the Parks and Recreation Commission and that body will again consider it at its regular meeting of July 7, 1987. On the assumption that a recommendation to the Council will be forthcoming from that meeting, I have agendized this topic for the regular City Council meeting of July 15, 1987.
