SUBJECT Approve plans and Specifications for Bleachers for Lodi
Softball C'omrlex
PREPARED BV: Parks and Recreation Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve plans and
specifications for six (E;) 54((:tions of,
nine (9) roc- bleachers for thu i:ocii
Softball Complex facility.
BACKGROUND I \FORM."ITIO\: As has been the case on a number of'
occasions at the Lodi Soft real l CoInnle:;
d iamond , we have found ou rsc- l v(, s short
on s•eat.ing ;pace for concluding league playoffs and rnan weeekend
tournament finals. It has become a. problem because room, i.e.
the width, does not allow us to bring in additional bleachc..rs
for these fames. Therefore, the sulut, ion we recommend ;.s to
purchase large capacity bleachers that deal with depth, not
width, and could take care of our concerns.
We are asking for six (6) sections of nine (9) row bleachers,
which will more than double our current capacity.
The complex facility will experience a Regional iS and Under
Qualifying as well as the National 18's fast Pitch Girls'
Tournaments later this summer, which could bring in crowds in
excess of 1,000 to 3,000 or more per evening at the complex
faci I it y . 'These bleachers will dFsf i ri.tely as,, :;t in provic;ing
improved seating.
in putting together our plans and specifications, we anticipate
the costs at $16,000 plus tax and shipping for the purchase of
these needed bleachers.
