NO. 81-85 California Street. e CITY OF LODI PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT COUNCIL COMMUNICATION TO: City Council FROM: City Manager DATE: June 23, 1981 SUBJECT: Railroad Protection on SPRR Woodbridge Branch at Turner Road, Loma Drive, Ham Lane, California Street Attached is a copy of the 1980-81 Capital Improvement Program showing the crossing protection budgeted for Turner Road, Loma Drive, Nam Lane, California, Sacramento, Main, and Stockton Streets. Our attached letter of November 19, 1980, indicates to the State that the City has budgeted these items and we have the 10% local funding allocated. On Wednesday, June 17, we met with the PUC staff and the Railroad and reviewed the proposed crossing protection installations at the subject crossings. The next step in the process is for the Southern Pacific staff to work up plans and estimates for these installations. it is im- portant that we confl the Council's position with respect to these in- stallations or to • e City and SP spending any more staff time. Terry Fields Gentlemen: SUBJECT: Railroad Grade Crossing Protection in reply to your attached correspondence dated October 7, 1980, we are forward - Ing to you the requested traffic counts on Turner Road, California and Loekaford Streets. The City Council at their regular meeting of November 5, 1980. formally approved the City's Capital improvement Budget which included railroad crossing grade protection on the Southern Pacific tracks at the following locations: Turner Road at Mills Avenue Sacramento Street Lom Drive Main Street Ham Lane Stockton Street California Street The City of Lodi is ready to participate in all of the above grade crossing protection projects based on the City r•ecelving federal funding and our share not exceeding 10%. We have not yet received the response to our attached letter of May 20. 1980, ' as it relates to requested federal funding on the Loma Drive (SPRR Woodbridge :..- Branch) grade crossing. ?. ue will bs'forwarding to the City Council for their approval and execut.on the- :' Program Supplements No's 13, ib. and 15 to the Local Agency - State Agreement �,• Mo. 5154 covering -the grade crossing protection at Main, Stockton and Sacramento Streets. However, it is requested that the State review these estimates since they appear high for protection which does not include automatic gates. RESOLUTION NO. 81-85 RESOLUTION APPROVING GRADE CROSSING PROTECTION AT TURNER, LOMA, HAM, AND CALIFORNIA STREET CROSSINGS WHEREAS, the City Council at its regular meeting of November 5, 1980 formally approved the City's Capital Improve- ment Budget which included railroad crossing grade protection on the Southern Pacific tracks at the following locations: Turner Road at Mills Avenue Loma Drive Ham Lane California Street Sadramento Street Main Street Stockton Street WHEREAS, the City of Lodi is willing to participate iii all of the above grade crossing protection projects, based on the City's receiving federal funding and the City share not to exceed ten percent. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi requests that the State of California initiate the processing on grade crossings at Turner and Mills, Loma Drive, Ham Lane and California Streets in order that these crossings can be protected as quickly as possible.
