HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - June 20, 1984 (91)RBGJLAR CALENDAR Cbuncii was apprised of the following infonnation pertaining to the "Salas Park Playground Iriprovements" project: SALAS PARK This project consists of installing walkways, utility lines, PLAYCifiCLM sprinklers, turfing, landscaping and lighting for the play- 1ATRt7VFI1LNI5 ground and up 1 and are:►s between the street and the existing fencing around the basin. Plans and specifications for this project were approved on May 23. 1984. The City has received the following bid for this project: BIEM BID Ous Navarette Landscaping $100,131.25 Engineer's Estimate 71,391.00 Because there was only one bid well above the Engineer's estimate, and found no major errors in the estimates, it is recam ended that the bid be rejected. Since a small portion of the work - some of the utility lines and a walkway - are needed to make the restroam functional and to tie the new parking lot to the park. it is suggested that work be done under separate informal bids. The project was to be funded by a canbination of Master Drain and General Funds and a grant application was pending. Based on recent conversations with the State Parks office, the City can keep their application active but will not be able to advertise the project until approval is granted (probably in Septerrber). This would likely delay conpletion until Spring. Staff needs direction as to whether Staff should wait for the grant. finish the project this fall with City funds or take sane other course of action.
