SUBJECT: Setting Public Hearing for Proposed One -Way
Street System in Cannery Area
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council set a Public Hearing for the first
meeting in July for the purpose of reviewing a proposed one-way street system
in the cannery area.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: During the cannery season, the intensity of parking
and the -narrowness of streets in the cannery area causes a traffic -flow problem.
The Public Works Department has recently reviewed the need for one-way streets
in the cannery area and are recommending that a Public Hearing be set for a
one-way street system.
Attached is a letter dated June 6, 1985, which transmits a proposed one-way
street system for this area and asks for input and comments from emergency
services and other affected parties. The final recommendation will be atthe
first meeting in July. This final recommendation will be based on the comments
that we re cei e from affected parties.

SUBJELT: Proposed One -Way Streets in the Cannery Area
The Public Works Department has reviewed the need for one-way streets
in the cannery area due to the narrowness of the street and the in-
tensity of parking. Attached is a proposed one-way street system for
this area that we will be taking to the City Council in the near future.
We would appreciate any comments that you might have on this proposed
one-way street system. For your information, Washington is proposed
to be one-way to the north in order that it will empty into Tokay
Street which is a standard residential street and considerably wider
than Vine Street.
If you have any comments that you would like us to consider prior to mak-
ing the proposal to the City Council, please forward them to this office
as soon as possible.
