SUBJECT: Award Bid for Liquid Asphalt SC -250
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council reject the low bid from Ophir Oil
Co., Inc., Newcastle, CA aid award the bid to the next low bidder Reed & Graham
Inc., San Jose, CA. Ophir Oil Co., Inc. Newcastle, CA did not meet Item 5 of
the bid requirements, "Cost of freight and spreading time shall be considered as
included in the contract cost for Liquid Asphalt".
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The specifications for Liquid Asphalt SC -250 were approved
by the City Council at its meeting on May 18, 1983 and five (5) bids were received.
Liquid Asphalt SC -250 costs have decreased 10° since the last time the City requested
bids which was June 1982.
Following is a tabulation of the bids for your information:
