SIZE OF SIGNS IN AREAS
ZONED R -C -P
ORD. NO. 1382 Notice thereof having been published according to law, an
INPRODUCED affidavit of publication being on file in the office of the
City Clerk, Mayor Reid called for the Public Hearing to
CC -53(a) consider the Planning C rdssion's recomendation that the
size of signs in areas zoned Residential -Co mercial-
Professional be increased from 1 square foot of sign for
each 5 lineal feet of structure to 1 square foot of sign
for each 2 lineal feet and that such signs may be
illuminated.
The matter was introduced by Cc nmini.ty Development Director
Schroeder who responded to questions regarding the matter
as were posed by the Council.
Speaking in support of the recomexidation was Mr. Tom
Harris, 233 1/2 Eden Street, Lodi, representing Grupe
Realtors.

SUBJECT: AMEND SIGN RESTRICTIONS R -C -P, RESIDENTIAL -COMMERCIAL -PROFESSIONAL DISTRICT
BACKGROUND: When the City's Sign Ordinance was originally
adopted n 1965, many of the professional office uses in areas
zoned R -C -P, Residential -Commercial-Professional wanted little or
no signage. During the last decade the philosophy has ciianged and
the request for larger signs and more visibility has become much
more evident.
In response to request for more signs, the Staff conducted a study
which indicated that an increase in sign area was warranted and
that illumination should be permitted.
RECOMMENDATION: On May 12, 1986, the Planning Commission
recommended t dt the size of signs in areas zoned R -C -P, be
increased from 1 square foot of sign for each 5 lineal feet of
structure to 1 square foot of sign for each 2 lineal feet and that
such signs may be illuminated.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIvFN THAT on the 4th day of June 1986 at
the hour of 7:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, the
Lodi City Council will conduct a Public Hearing in the Chambers of the Lodi

Planning Commission's recomendation that the size of signs in areas zoned
Residential-CanTerci-al Professional be increased from 1 square foot of sign
