The Flag has grown and changed with the Nation. Every- thing that it represents is reflected in the lives of those who carried it, stood by it, served under it, or protected because of it. The Flag, as we salute it today, is an emblem that evolved through various stages, varied designs, and assorted appearances. Again reflecting the growth and changes of the country, as well as its people. To commemorate the anniversary of its adoption on .Tune 14, 1777, Congress has set aside the 21 days from Flag Day through Independence Day as a period to honor America. MEMBERS OF CONGRESS of the United States join in declaring the 21 days as a period to honor America so that freedom loving Americans might demonstrate to the world that while we face problems as individuals, and as a Nation, we are proud of our country and the accomplishinents c our :onstitutional government. LABOR AND BUSINESS LEADERS participate in this annual program. These representatives of our freedom of enterprise society—the blue and %shite collar workers --remind us of those Founders who argued the structures of our constitutional government into existence. The cooperative spirit of business and labor is part of the success of the system. VFTFRANS, RELIGIOUS AND CIVIC organizations having celebrations scheduled for Flag Day and through the Fourth of July arc encouraged to continue and to expand these programs to promote .America and unity arnong all Americans.
