Lodi, California May 14,1981
Four years ago we took -out a building permit to
build a commercial building on the corner of
Stockton St A Kettlman Lane. The provisions
of the permit required us to deed ten feet of land,
on the Stockton Street side,to the City of Lodi. Also
to pay the amount of $ 49W.45 to the city for Street
work. We were told at this time the work would be
done the following November. After checking with the
engineering department, the date was not ahead
because of possible street changes.
After four years and many calls to the department
we are now told the City Council has not made up
their minds.
Due to the fact there has been t-caffic lights installed
on this corner in the past yearfl. would assume this
would determine where the street should be located.
This corrsr is an eyesore. There are holes in the
street that is city property and no sidewalk or
pavement. Since we have already paid for this work
and it will not cast the taxpayers anything, I request
that the work be completed.
Yours truly.

City Attorney
Six months have passed since 1 last wrote you concerning the in-
stallatioh of curb, gutter and sidewalk adjacent to your development
at 201 E. Ketleman Lane. During that time, we have had numerous
discussions with State and federal offices in an attempt to get the
$0. Stockton St. project moving. and at this time expect confirmation
..4 p J g
'of their action within 30 days. This means that we are about one
'loth closer to construction than we thought we were in Septewl3er
r'.Jast year:
r; r 'IAstb consequence, the City Council is unable to adequately discuss
alternates and make a determination as to the ultimate location
,,.._of the improvements. until such a determination is made, we are
:unable to install the improvements you are requesting.
:t, r fully realize that this is an unsatisfactory answer to your request.
tt feel 'it is, the only one we can make under the circumstances.

Dear Mr. Vetter
September S. 1980
SUBJECT: 103 E. Kettlanam Lon
This letter Is to confirm our many conversations regarding the Instal -
lotion of curb, gutter sad sIdew&lk adjacent to your development at
203 E. Kettleman Lane.
City of Lodi Is In the process of putting together the preliminary
Vork nomseery to make a final determination an the exact location of
the Improvements. At the present time, the environmental Impact state-
eant: I* with the Federal Highway AdadnIstration for their review and
approval. Based an their track record to this point, we don't feel
that we will receive FNWA approval for another two months. After that
tlw*,, us will be setting up pi3blIc mootings and/or public hearings
4"01 -with the City Council to obtain information from the residents and
property owners In the area, after which the City Council can be
expected towulte a determination. How long this will take, I don't
know; but I would not expect It to be emplated before next spring.
The construction of the lowr sits an your property could take
_0 place after that• t1wo, because funding for that portion has already
leen mado'by YGUO
-Also, for your Information, It would appear to us that construction
of the rwalner of the project probably will not take place anti I
1982 because considerable right-of-way will how to be obtained once
the location of the street and right-of-way Is determined, ard this,
Is a tim&-consuming- process.
I went to thank you for your patience and can understand your concern
'An getting the Improvements made adjacent to your development In
order to provide your tenant and the public with an attractive addi-
tion to the city.
