COUNCIL COMMUNICATION PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT TO: City Council FROM: City Manager DATE: May 7, 1985 SUBJECT: Standardization of Submersible Pumps RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council standardize on "Flygt Corporatioa " as the manufacturer for all future submersible pumps used by the City of Lodi. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The submersible pump is used at all of the City's storm -drainage basin pumping stations and at our one industrial waste lift station. The City will have approximately four additional 14 horsepower sub- mersible pumps :o be added in the future. Presently all of the submersible pumps used in our storm drainage and wastewater system are Flygt pumps. THOMAS A. PETERSON, City Manager City Council May 7, 1985 Page 2 The City has found these pumps to be low -maintenance and parts and materials readily available in northern California. Ten Public Works employees have already attended maintenance and repair training on the Flygt pump. Section 2-58, Exemptions From Centralized Purchasing, of the Lodi City Code, authorizes the City Council to standardize on specific supplies, services, and equipment. Since the City has only fo+=r future submersible pump installations, and since all of the existing submersible pump installations have Flygt pumps, it is recommended that the City standardize on the submersible pump manufactured by the "Flygt Corporation."
