C I TY CX1IPi,CE t�Jj 140 ar LODI HIGH SCHOOL 3 South Pacific, Lodi,CA 95240 1 (209) 369-741 Dear Lodi City Council, -4,C) " - VC) -•,- ✓ Several groups at Lodi High School are sponsoring an organized effort called "We are the Ones at Lodi H-gh They have taken it upon themselves to start a fund raising drive to help the victims of starvation in Ethiopia. Their goal is 10,000 dollars. Up to this date there are many activities planned: such as a free car,wash-donations go to Ethiopia, collection cans in class rooms, and assemblies at many schools in our district. We would also like to organize a concert in the Grape Howl. Mr. Bennedetti of Parks and Recreation has informed us that we need insurance and security, both of which we have arranged. However, we need the City of Lodi's permission and I would like to request this from you now. Here are the details. The concert is called "Day on the Grape" and it will be held on May 27th, Memorial Day, from 12:00 noon to 6:00. No alcohol or ice chests will.be permitted in the stadium. Admission is $3.00 per person. Six local bands have donated their time and a speaker from Senator Garamendi's office and a D.J. from FM 102,wro is going to Ethiopia on June 3rd, will both be present. We will obtain insurance, $500,000.00 liability and ? $50,000.00 damages for $300,00 to $350.00, from Brusa's Insurance. Z +.Z Security have agreed to supply five armed n1L)'ld and unarmed security officers for $280.00. Three school fc'. security people have volunteered their services as well. pfCjfI�`j Entrances will be guarded by adult volunteers. A Conflict Management booth will be set up where kids can settle any conflicts that may arise in a non-violent, communicative manner. No one may leave and re-enter., The Radio stations are all set to go and the Lodi Sentinel and Stockton Record both want me to contact them concerning this evert. But I must have your permission,. please. We would appreciate a response from you as soon as con- venient. This event seems to have expanded greatly in a very short time with many enthusiastic and cooperative people working together. We hope to emphasize to Lodi's youth the spirit of giving and the idea, that in world terms, we are all in this mess together, so lets' help each other, We hope you will help us too.
