The site requested is in the vicinity of the City's White Slough Water Pollution Control Plant. TO THE CITY COUNCIL FROM: THE CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE )UNCIL COAIAIUNICATIC DATE [ N4_ April 8, 1986 SUBJECT: LEASE OF CITY PROPERTY BY aX Ti'Y OF SAN J©AWIN FOR FIRE STATION SITE RDCCKff=ED ACTION: That the City Council authorize the execution of a lease agreement with the Delta Fire Protection District to provide for the District's use of certain City property for a fire station site. BACKGMM INFORMATION: The City of Lodi has received a request frac the Delta Fire Protection District, via the County of San Joaquin, that the City enter into a long-term lease agreement with the District for the purpose of providing the District with a site for the construction of a fire station for the new fire protection district. The site requested is in the vicinity of the City's White Slough Water Pollution Control Plant. Attached (Exhibit A) is a map illustrating the precise location. The City Attorney and a representative of the County Counsel's office have jointly prepared the attached agreement (Exhibit B). The District has requested a lona-term lease rather than the purchase of the property because the District cannot afford such a purchase. We have no problem with this proposed arrangement. In fact, having an equipped fire station in close proximity and with direct access to our White Slough facility is an advantage to the City of Dodi. The City has no present or planned use for this parcel. The agreement provides that the District lease the entire parcel as illustrated on Exhibit A, and that the District be responsible for its maintenance. In addition, the District will be responsible for the annual property taxes on this parcel which are currently $30.68. Respectfully submitted, __-- -TC Thomas A. Peterson City Manager cc: Water/Wastewater Superintendent TAP/lh EXHIBIT A Y Subject parcel is a portion of Section 24 T.3 N.
