TO THE SAN JOAQU I N COLN" COMIUN I TY :
The Private industry Council is deeply concerned with the high ,youth unemployment
rate in our county. It is for this reason we passed the attached resolution at our
`larch meeting which addresses the problem. We ask that you join with us in working
to help San Joaquin County youth make the transition from school to work.
Presently, we are reviewing all of our programs to determine their effectiveness
in training unemployed residents of the county for jobs that are in demand. 1n ad-
dition, we are studying programs from all over the nation to assess if there are
any which will help with our local youth employment problems. We hope to have such
a program in place before September.
We offer our services to you in an advisory capacity, as representatives of a cross
section of business, education, labor, and the community, to assist you in your
efforts to address youth unemployment.
