RES. ND. 84-030 CITY OF LODI PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT TO: City Council FROM: City Manager DATE: March 16, 1984 SUBJECT: Handicap Stall, Pacific Avenue COUNCIL COMMUNICATION RECOMMENDED ACTIUN: That the City Council adopt a resolution establishing the parking stall shown on EXHIBIT A, as a stall limited exclusively to vehicles )f physically handicapped persons. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Lodi Unified School District has requested that the City establish the stall legally, as shown on the attached letter. Several years ago, this stall was signed by the Lodi Unified School District and the curb painted white. Since that time, it has been primarily used as a handicap stall. However, there has been some problem with other people using it, and in order for the Police Department to legally enforce it, it should be officially designated as such by the City Council and the curb painted blue. it is this department's recommendation that the stall be so established by resolution jvi /L. Pine Street Lodi, CA 95240 RE: Handicap Parking - Lodi Nigh School Dear Jack: I have discussed the handicap parking situation at Lodi Nigh with the Principal, Floyd Williams;at Lodi Police Department; District Administration; and Marvin. Apparently the Police Department does enforce the handicap parking stalls in front of the Nigh School; however, the problem appears to be that the signs are not sufficiently visible. Painting the logo in the stalls and the curb blue aRPears to be the solution. I have discussed this with Marvin and the stalls are clearly in the right-of-way; therefore, it appears that Council action is required prior to any painting. Please accept this letter as a request for Council consideration of this matter. I believe that Marvin has a diagram of the stalls. I believe that we may need to discuss the actual implementation of the painting and improved signing. Thank you for considering this request, and I look forward to hearing from you. ,Slyerely, ary Joan Starr, AICP Facility Planner MJS!pc cc: Dutch Williams Tom Bandelin Floyd Williams RECEIVED.` CITY OF LODI naLoc WOOKS 01 RESOLD i N NO. 84-030 V A RESCUMION ESTABLISHING A PARKING STALL LiIIIITID EMMUSIVELY 70 VEHICLES OF PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED PERSMS ION PACIFIC AVENUE IN THE AREA OF L(DI HIM SCHOOL RESO[,VED that the City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby establish a parking stall as shown on exhibit "A" attached hereto and thereby made a part hereof as a stall limited exclusively to vehicles of physically handicapped persons.
