the City Council concurred with the proposal
and City Attorney Stein was directed to proceed
with the preparation of a contract pursuant to

cluded in the Lodi Design Group letter of February

Persuant to your committee's request on February 2, 1981, we the local desig,ti
professional firms of DAUBER/kIKUCHI INC., PRESZLER-BISHOP and
MORRIS/VVENELL INC., are pleased to submit a proposal `or design services
for the Lodi Community Center in Lodi, California.
Our firms have formed a joint venture for this significant project in our community.
For the convenience of everyone, we will be called the LODI DESIGN GROUP.
Enclosed is our proposal and professional fee schedule. If the proposal is
acceptable, we can commence on the project immediately in order to accommo-
date the tentative deadline of Field rand Fair Day.

with you and the City of Lodi on this project.

DESIGN PAYMENT SCHEDULE
The billing of our professional services will be monthly. We will bill on the 20th
day of each month. The billing will be based on the amount of work or tasks
performed the preceding month. Payment shall be received by the 10th day of
the following month. This shall occur each month until completion of all services.
We have enclosed our group charge -out rates for your convenience.

DWIGHT W. DAUBER - PRINCIPAL

Dwight received his Bachelor of Science degree from the
California State Polytechnic University of Pomona and is
a Registered Landscape Architect in California. During
his eight years of experience in the profession, six were
spent in government as Assistant Landscape Architect for
the City of Stockton, and Superintendent of Planning and
Development for the County of San Joaquin Parks and Recrea-
tion Department. In these positions, he was responsible
for all facets of urban and regional park planning and
beautification projects. With the County, he was responsible
for a yearly capital improvement budget of over two million
dollars.
Dwight is an active member in the Northern Cali€ornia,Chapter
of the American Institute of Landscape Architects and was its
past president in 1979. He presently occupies a seat on the
Architectural Awards Committee for the City of Lodi.
STEVEN J. KIKUCHI - PRINCIPAL
Steve's experience and expertise in the profession of land-
scape architecture has been acquired through many years of
diverse and varied experiences. Having the opportunity to
grow up in the nursery and landscape contracting business,
Steve has played the roles of a nurseryman, designer, fore-
man, estimator, field superintendent, Associate Landscape
Architect, Park Planner and finally Landscape Architect with
his own firm of DKI.
Steve has worked in the Southern California Area, the Bay
Area and Central Valley. His landscape architectural ex-
perience has been in land planning, model home design, com-
mercial, industrial and recreational landscaping. His formal
education includes studying architecture for two years at
West Valley College and receiving his Bachelor of Science
degree from the California State Polytechnic University at
Pomona in Landscape Architecture.

STATEMENT OF EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
DATE PRACTICE ESTABLISHED
The firm of DKI was established in January, 1980 with offices
located in Lodi and Campbell, California. The principals
of the firm have been practicing various phases of Landscape
Architecture and Land Planning in the State of California,
and, particularly, in San Joaquin and Santa Clara Counties
for the past six (6) years.
GENERAL CHARACTER OF NORMAL PRACTICES
We are a firm of Landscape Architects and Land Planners whose
many faceted projects include consultants to Cities and
Counties as well as the private sector. Our capabilities
and expertise include: Grant Writing, E.I.R. documents,
Recreational Land Planning, Master Land Use studies as well
as Construction Drawings for landscape elements.

ARLI E D. PRESZ LER - - - -
Arlie is a native Lodian and a product of local schools. After a term of service in the
Army, he entered the College of Environmental Design at U. C. Berkeley and received
the Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1963. Prior to graduation, he spent four years
working part time and summers for Russell Bornicut, AIA in Oakland. He returned to
Lodi and has maintained a practice consisting mostly of local projects ever since.
He was the Charter President of the Sierra -Volley Chapter of the American Institute of
Architects and twice served on the Board of Directors of the California Council AIA.
He is presently the intern Development Chairman for the Chapter, and is on a committee
to rewrite the By-laws for the California Council. - ;•
!LEWIS C. BISHOP
Lew comes to us from South Dakota with a twenty year detour through Southern California.
He attended school in Rapid City, including the South Dakota School of Mines and
Technology and Block Hills State College. He brings with him a varied background
having worked for several firms in Southern California, first as a Draftsman -- later
advancing to Manager of Ar61tecture and Engineering, Vice -President of Production
'and Chief Co-ordinator. He opened his own office in Newhall in 1974. Knowing of `

Lodi through his`wife (L.U.H S., 1956), he moved here in 1978 and was named a full
partner in 1979•
He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Sierra -Valley Chapter of the
American Institute of Architects. ' He is becoming well acquainted in the community
through his work in the Lodi Kiwonis Club and as on Ambassador with the Chamber of

MORRIS & WENELL Architects and Planners Inc. have been practicing architecture
for the past nine years. We are a multi -disciplined firm with experience in a
broad range of projects and types of construction. Our main emphasis the past
several years has been with local governmental agencies, ranging from the
United States Corps of Engineers to counties and cities. Many of these projects
involve extensive coordination of disciplines and systems, which we feel will
be a valuable contribution to this multi-factioned Community Center project.
ROBERT MORRIS - PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT
Mr. Morris received his Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1967 from California
State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. He holds an Associate of Arts
Degree in Engineering and Mathematics from American River College, Sacramento.
Currently he is continuing his professional education in the fields of real
estate development and management.
Upon graduation, Mr. Morris was employed by Robert M. Synder, Architect, for
two years as an architect -in -training. In 1969 and 1970, he was employed by
Edward Merlo, Architect, as an architectural designer.. Mr. Morris was then
employed by Haight and Weatherby, I'nc., in 1970 and 1971, and by Warren C.T.
Wong, Architect, in 1971.
On March 25, 1971, Mr. Morris was granted License No. C6558 to practice
architecture in California. He is also a licensed architect in Arizona,
Colorado, and Nevada, and is a member of the National Council of Architectural
Registration Board, and holds a California Contractor's License.
In 1971, Mr. Morris became vice-president in the new corporation of Haight
and Morris, Inc. His current partner, Larry Wenell, joined the firm in 1973,
bringing about the name of Haight/Morris/Wenell, Inc. In 1975, Mr. Haight
left the corporation and Mr. Morris became president of the firm. Mr. Morris
and Mr. Wenell are currently practicing architecture under the name of
MORRIS & WENELL Architects and Planners Inc., at 301 West Locust Street,
Lodi, California.
Active in the local community, Mr. Morris is president of the Lodi Kiwanis
Club. He serves on the Board of Directors for Parkin Memorial Park, assists
the local high school ski club and the Alpine -Victor 4-H Club, and is a

member of both the Lodi District Chamber of Commerce and the Construction
Specification Institute.
At MORRIS & WENELL Architects and Planners Inc., Mr. Morris is head of admini-
stration. His duties also include project design, specification writing, cost
control, and construction management.
LARRY WENELL - PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT
While attending California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo,
Mr. Wenell won several design awards, including the South County's Gas
Design Award and the Henry Hill Design Award. He graduated at the top of
his class, receiving his Bache?^r of Architecture Degree in 1967.
From 1967 to 1969, Mr. Wenell was project architect with Campus Crusade for
Christ in Arrowhead Springs, California. His duties included design of dorm-
itory facilities, assembly rooms, dining rooms, the chapel and.offices and
construction coordination. He then was employed by dames Shade, Architect,
until 1973, and was granted License No. %6599 to practice architecture in
California on April 5, 1971. He is also a licensed architect in Nevada and
a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Board.
In 1973, Mr. Wenell jo;ned the firm of Haight and Morris, Inc., where he
became an associate, changing the name to Haight/Morris/Wenell, Inc. Mr.
Haight left the corporation in 1975, and Mr. Wenell and his current. partner,
Robert Morris, formed Morris-Wenell-Associates. .Mr. Wenell and Mr. Norris
are currently practicing architecture under the name of MORRIS & WENELL
Architects and Planners Inc., at 301 West Locust Street, Lodi, California.
Mr. Wenell is a member of the Greater Kiwanis Club of Lodi, the Lodi District
Chamber of Commerce and Temple Baptist Church. He is also active in community
projects in Lockeford, where he and his family reside.
At MORRIS & WENELL Architects and Planners Inc., Mr. Wenell is vice-president
and acts as project architect and designer. He is president of Church
Planning Consultants, a subsidiary of MORRIS & WENELL Architects and Planners
Inc., specializing in the design of churches and church -related facilities.
The following is a list of projects that MORRIS & WENELL has completed over
the past three years:
1) SAM JOAQUIN COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH CENTER, Stockton, California
Design of estimated 40,000 square feet mental health center to
house services such as 24-hour care program, out-patient clinics,
children's services, a day treatment center, day care, admini-
stration, crisis services and follow-up programs.
Currently bids received are under advisement,
construction cost - $3,800,000. �.

2) BANK OF AMERICA-STOCKTON MAIN BRANCH, Stockton, California
Remodel of existing facility and addition of approximately 36,000
square feet steel -frame Type II facility. Working drawings com-
pleted, proposed construction cost is $1,871,000.
3) LODI MUNICIPAL. SERVICE CENTER, Lodi California
Design of City of Lodi electrical utility building, general warehouse
building, covered parking and covered storage area. Completed in
1981, construction cost - $900,000.
4) MANTECA COMMUNITY CENTER, Manteca, California
Design of 5,000 square feet community center. Facility includes a
large multi-purpose gymnasium, public meeting rooms, and a complete
kitchen. Completed in 1980, construction cost - $465,000.
5) TRACY COMMUNITY CENTER, Tracer, California
Design of 8,500 square feet community center. Facility includes a
large multi-purpose room with stage, several conference s tyl a meeting
rooms, and catering kitchen. Completed in 1981, construction cost -
$540,000.
6) MANTECA DOWNTOWN BEAUTIFICATION, Manteca, Califo;-nia
Design of Yosemite Street improvements including landscaping, street
furniture, and hardscape surfacing. Construction to be completed
in 1981, cost - $650,000.
8) MONTE VISTA CHAPEL, Turlock, California
Design of 14,000 square feet auditorium facility with seating for 1,200
people. Facility includes built-in rear projection screens as well as
other facilities for audio/visual communication; two large overflow
areas,.one of which may be used as a chapel; and extensive music
program facilities. Platform design includes area for full orchestra
and has a disappearing pulpit. Building is designed for addition of
two balconies to bring seating capacity to 19500. Currently under
construction to be completed in 1981, cost - $1,2000000.
9) OAK GROVE REGIONAL PARK, Stockton, California
Design of wilderness park with nine -acre lake, roads, picnic structures,
parking, hiking trails, amphitheatre, restrooms, campground and con-
cession stand. This project was completed in 1971, construction cost -
$2,000,000.
10) PLEASANT AVENUE OFFICE CONDOMINIUM PROJECT, Lodi, California
Design of 8-500 square feet condominium facility for
commercial/professionaluse. Completed in 1980,
construction cost - $450,000.
