HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - March 17, 1982 (46)City Clerk Reimche reported that she had certified the Canvass of the April 13, 1982 G?neral Municipal Election and reported the results therefore as set forth below: CERTIFICATIONS OF WHEREAS, a regular general municipal election was t CANVASS OSP' APRIL held and conducted in the City of Lodi, County of San 13, 1982 GENERAL Joaquin, State of California, on Tuesday, the 13th day MUNICIPAL ELECTION of April, 1962, as provided by law; and WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given in time, form and manner as provided by the law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed; and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereas, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in cities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 82-6 adopted the 20th day of January, 1982, the City Clerk of the City of Lodi canvassed the returns of said election and has certified the results to this City Council, said results are received, attached and made a part thereof as "Exhibit "A", (see page 162) NOW, THEREFORE, TETE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LODI, CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. - That there were twelve (12) voting precincts established for the purpose of holding said election cc --prised of the following consolidations of the regular election precincts in the City of Lodi as established for the holding of State and County elections: VOTING PRECINCT 1, comprising -State and County precinct numbers L-2401 and !r2402 VOTING PREC1NCr 2, comprising State and Ceur.t}- precinct nrmtEnf 1-2403 and L-24.04 VOTING PRECINCT 3, comprising State and County precinct numbers L-2405, L=2406 and L-2426 VOTING r'RECINCT 4, comprising State and County precinct numbers L-2407, L-2409, and L-2424 -1- 10 I ji o Continued April 20, 1982 { VOTING PRECINCT 5, comprising State and County precinct numbers L-2408 and L-2410 VOTING PRECINCT 6, comprising State and County precinct numbers L-2411 and L-2412 VOTING PRECINCT 7. comprising State and County precinct numbers L-2413 and L-2425 VOTING PRECINCT 8, comprising State and County precinct numbers L-2414 and L-2415 VOTING PRECINCT 9. comprising State and County precinct numbers L-2416 and L-2417 VOTING PRECINCT 10, comprising State and County precinct numbers L-2418 and L-2420 VOTING PRECINCT 11, comprising State an(? County precinct numbers L-2419 and L-2421 VOTING PRECINCT 12, comprising State and County precinct numbers L-2422 and L-2423 Section 2. - That said regular municipal election was held for the purpose of electing the following officers of said City as required by the laws relating to cities in the State of California, to wit: three members of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years Section 3. - That the whole number of votes cast in said City was 15.664 That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in said City was 138 That the whole number of ballots east in said City, including absent voter ballots was 5,616 Section 4. - That the names of persons voted for as said election for member of the City Council of said City are as follows: Joanne .. (Randy) Snider That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of such persons above named for the respective offices for which said persons were candidates were as listed in Exhibit "e attached. Section: 5.- The City Council does declare and determine that: Fred M. Reid Evelyn M. Olson was elected as member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years; was elected as member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years; u 11 int Continued April 20, 1982 John R. (Randy) Snider was elected as member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years. Section 6 - The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council of said City a statement of the results of said election showing: 1. the whole number of votes cast in the City; 2. the names of the persons voted for; 3. for what office each person was voted for; 4. the number of votes given at each precinct to each person; S. the number of votes given in the City to each person; Section 7. - that the city Clerk shall immediately make and, upon compliance by the persons elected with the provisions of Section 1:1565 and Section 11568 of the Elections Code of the State of California, shall deliver to each of such persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by her and duly authenticated. that she shall also administer to each person elected, the Oath of office prescribed in the State Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe thereto and file the same in her office. Whereupon, each and all of said persons so elected shall be inducted into the respective office to which they have been elected. Section 8. - that the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original resolution of said City; and shall make a minute of the passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City. in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted. RESOLUTION NO. On motion of Mayor Pro TemPore Murphy. Katn1ch second. 82-38 Council adopted Resolution No. 82-30 - A Resolution of, the City Council of the City of Lodi. California, reciting the fact of- the Gener-al Municipal Election held in said City of Lodi on the 13th day of April, 1982, and declaring the results thereof and such other matters provided by Law. The motion carried by unanimous vote. Presentations were made by City Clerk Reimche to the retiring Council members, Mayor McCarty. coun-cilman, Hughes, and Councilman Katnich. Farewell remarks were made by Mayor McCarty, Councilman Hughes and Councilman Katnich. Presentations were made to Mayor Pro Tempore Murphy and Councilman Pinkerton. OATH OF OFFICE City Clerk Reimche administered the Oath of Office to tine newly elected: City Council members, Evelyn M. Olson, Fred M. Reid, and John R. (Randy) Snider- and presented Certificates of Election to each. REORGANIZATION OF City Clerk Reimche called the new council to order and THE COUNCIL asked for nominations for Mayor. Mayor Pro Tempore Murphy nominated councilman Pinkerton. There being no MAYOR AND MAYOR further nominations, the nominations were closed. Councilman Snider nominated Council- man Reid. There being no further nominations, the nominations were closed. Fred Reid was elected Mayor by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmember - Murphy, Olson, Reid and Snider Noes- Councilmember - None Abstain: Councilmember - Pinkerton Mayor Reid then called for nominations for the office of Mayor Pro Tempore. Councilman Pinkerton then nominated Councilman Murphy. THere being no further nominations, the nominations were closed. Councilman Murphy was elected as Mayor Pro Tempore by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmember - Murphy. Olson, Pinkerton, Snider and Reid Noes: Councilmember - None Absent: Council -member- - None AWOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Council, Mayor Reid adjourned the meeting at Q approximately 800 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.-.
